What R U Eating ? ~OGH wants to know.....

I don't count restaurant pics! This is my favorite thread right now and I'm looking for homecooked meals. Even when they look like slop I know they taste good.
I normally only prep 4-5 days at a time so it does not get too boring. Though my selections are generally made more for their nutritional profile than taste. I’m gonna hold the line though and stick with no cheat meals until thanksgiving.

I’ll try to get a tad creative with my next prep to give you guys something cool to check out

that's true

Just read this. Too many algae gainz led them to use leftover whey for ice cream. Then to protein shakes. Better gainz.
I haven’t heard about the ice cream thing but I believe it, that’s probably y it wrecks my stomach lol.

It’s actually really smart they figured out how to make money off the waste products, they can sell it and on top save money from dumping it at the same time.

Another of my soon to be world famous high calorie dinner preps. Smoked brisket, pinto beans, white rice, baby peas, green beans, guacamole and homemade salsa.

So far it seems u and I are the only ones who knows beans and rice together make a complete protein.

I add beans or lentils to my rice when ever possible, why not?

You eat rice you get zero protein , you eat beans u get zero protein. You mix the 2 you get a complete protein. I don’t know jf it’s lucine or what? But dont believe all the nutritional facts u read.

Are those pinto beans?
Looks lovely.

My mum has become lactose intolerant.
Idk if it was following menopause or because a life of relentless stress caught up with her, in more than one way.
Like you, she eats Parmesan and has no problem digesting it.
The long fermentation process makes it lactose free.
Also, it contains a lot of good bacteria and lot of calcium.
The real Parmigiano Reggiano is superb and worth every penny.
I sometimes think they should actually charge more for it.
It's a unique product.

I did see there was some light coloured sauce on your pasta, earlier.
I suppose when it is something colourful you can really see the pasta coated it with it and how well it works with condiments.
But it was a beautiful dish.
And so is this one with the beans.
Must have been super flavourful.

Love seafood with legumes, it's a cool combo.

So happy to know you are eating and on the mend.
:)

Beans have been a staple for me on this bulk, and rice is pretty much always a staple regardless. The combination is a terrific 1-2 punch just as you say, and calorie per calorie you would be hard pressed to find better foods to fill out a prep.

There is also the affordability factor. My wife buys me 10 pound bags of pinto beans and black beans from Sam’s club. I think they are all of 12-13 bucks and last me an eternity. Rice I get in 25 pound bags.

The beans do take awhile obviously, but I just put them in the slow cooker on low on the mornings I am going to do meal prep and then by early evening they are perfect. I can also add all the seasonings I like to the slow cooker and they have all day to absorb in my flavor combos.

There is not a whole lot that beats beans + rice + meat in a bowl all sauced up with seasonings from a macro, taste, and affordability perspective!

Throw some greek yogurt in as sour cream...mmm. Delicious. Or take that mixture and get some tortillas, throw some cilantro on it - delicious.

I'm over here making myself hungry and I've got hours before I can eat lol.

This is my new round of prep from this AM. Only making 4 days worth at a time now to prevent boredom. Though the protein is...........yup, you guessed it, more smoked brisket I need to use up.

Served with pinto beans yet again, but now quinoa instead of rice with some diced peppers and onions. Also, and you can't really see it well since it is sort of buried under other food in this pic, but I got some whole kernel corn in the mix too.

i love corn, but its got little to no nutrients in it , but its such a "comfort food" ,,, for me anyway, i think thats a good idea, only prepping 4 meals as to not get bored, i've been slowly adding food in the rotation, very slow lol i don't want to get to much fat gains lmao

It very much is, corn I mean. A useless starch for all nutritional purposes, but it was a favorite from childhood so it manages to make an appearance in my prep with some regularity regardless.

I don't worry so much about fat right now. My body is being very weird this cycle. I don't know what it has in store for the scale at this point. Ill weigh again on Saturday AM.

The beans do take awhile obviously

Using an instant pot, I can finish a pot of beans in 40-45 minutes, depending on the particular bean. The texture is better if they're pre-soaked, but either way is fine.

I grew up in Louisiana. Beans & rice is definitely a thing. In fact, I'm planning that for the weekend.

I have tried with the Instantpot as well, but it seems like I can never quite get the ratios or cook time right and they wind up mush on me or hard as a rock.

With the crockpot I have got it down to a science as to timing and texture I like.

Oh come on, now this looks way too professional! LOL
Look at that presentation, good work man.

Yea I’m not sure about the lactose from my parents they were addicts and have been passed away years ago. But both of my grandparents became lactose intolerant in the later years. I’m an idiot and have no idea but I assume as we age we become more lactose intolerant, almost like the pancreas that enzyme can get burnt out. If that makes a little sense. I’m too lazy to research it.

Exactly you only really notice the sauce if u put a lot on it or if it’s a redish tomato sauce.
A tiny bit of Alfredo and olive or looks like plain noodle, as long as I can taste it a bit.

The sea food and legumes is honestly a bit weird of a combo for me but it dose taste good and has a great amino profile.
