Why would my thread on Dr. Mariano get deleted?

In 2007, I posted a thread about having mixed feelings about my visit with Dr. Mariano. It was an honest thread that received plenty of feedback; from readers who agreed with me and from readers who disagreed with me.

It was merely my opinion.

I stated that after having flown across the country to visit with the doctor, I felt as if the appointment was rushed and that he did not take the time to really listen to me.

He wouldn't even give me a script for testosterone even though I had been on TRT for more than ten years.

In fact, my girlfriend at the time also made an appointment with him and she came away with the same diagnosis as me. Adrenal Fatigue.

And we both may have had AF but my issues run much deeper than that and he didn't make an attempt to address them.

My overall opinion is that Mariano was a better doctor online than he was in person.

Why would that thread no longer exist?

If you do a search by all threads started by me, you can see the threads where I am preparing to visit him, but nothing after that. As if it never happened.

They back each other up sometimes people, promote me on your board and i will promote you, scratch my back and i will scratch yours sort of thing.

Mariano i heard is very good, especially with the mental aspect of sex, like libido issues.
But now, Shippen seems the genuine professional doctor with ethics and professional etiquette rather than a money grabbing approach. However he does not beleive in holistic medicine or Adrenal fatigue, At least he is a proper doctor and professional, uses solid research and is knowledgaeable and dont give himself false awards and act like god. If only he believed in AF and holistic medicine.

I see no reason if it the thread didn't involve spam, selling steroids, personal attacks, and/or deteriorate into a flame war. I don't see a record of the thread but it could have been deleted entirely from the database (but only I am able to do that and I have no recollection of this particular 3-year old thread).

Why do I bring it up now? Because I was searching for it to include in the thread about Mariano and Crisler.

It was a pretty popular thread that got a bunch of views and comments.

I basically felt cheated out of my visit with him because I flew to California from Miami, spent several hundred dollars and I felt as if I received a cookie-cutter consultation.

My girlfriend visited him earlier that day and she received the same exact consultation and diagnosis.

My appointment was toward the end of the day and it felt rushed. And then another patient knocked on the door and I was practically pushed out the door before my hour was up. I even had to come back and knock on the door to retrieve my sunglasses.

Perhaps it was an off-day for him because it is obvious he is very knowledgeable from what he posts online.

He just came across very impersonal. Perhaps I was expecting too much.

The doctor I have now is much more in tune to my needs. And much more affordable and closer.

Good luck getting in touch with him. I've been trying for days. I'm flying out to see Crisler now, my doc has agreed to cooperate with him. Prescriptions & blood tests.

The title of the thread (and the original post) was a question about the reasons for deletion - this in itself is not actually a men's health issue. Similar to your post, the questions refer to our moderation decisions - which we're happy to discuss. I think the general discussion is a better forum for this topic.

Of course, as the thread evolves it may go back on topic of men's health. If it's going in that direction, I have no problem moving it back to the men's health section.

Relax, there is no conspiracy going on here. We're doing our best to keep relevant topics in the appropriate forums. Your feedback helps us.

Sometimes data gets corrupted and lost for unknown reasons. Chalk it up to a stray cosmic ray hitting the sector that your post was on- or something like that.

Well either way, I wanted to share my experience with the new readers. I only had one visit and I felt it was too impersonal.

Not saying he is a bad doctor because I don't believe that.

But the shit that I was going through at the time, I wanted more than a cookie-cutter visit. Especially after having flown clear across the country.

I am a patient of marianos amazing doctor with amazing knowledge, that being said its been one month and a half and i cant seem to reach him in any way! here i am a patient my prescription has finished i did the bloodwork he told me to do before our next appointment, now i cant get a hold of him through phone,email nothing! did this guy close shop and leave the country or something? i feel cheated because ive already invested so much time and money into him, i flew all the way there had my consultation with him, and after that have had three phone appointments with him ($290 each appointment) and i was just barely going to start my whole treatment and now i cant find him to book an appointment! i am so pissed off you guys have no idea , if anyone knows where he is or whats going on with him please let me know because i dont know how much longer i can wait, is it common for doctors to do this? i really cant afford starting from scratch with a new doctor.

I've had that happen with the last 4 doctors I saw as well so your story does not totally surprise me. Having said that, I am always able to reach Dr. Mariano and have not had any issues. I call paulette and leave her a message and she always gets back to me. At first I could not get a hold of him, but figured out two reasons why. For one I kept forgetting there is a time zone difference from California to where I live so I'd call when his office opened at 9am, but 9am my time was actually 6am his time. When I'd leave a message I would not here back, but what I notice that happened in the past when leaving massages with other people or friends is that some voice machine require you to hit the # key once your done so that the message goes through. Once I started doing this I would get a call back from his office consistently so I no longer have issues getting a hold of him. To be honest with the amount of shit I've dealt with from other doctors and on top of it they didn't know shit, I can deal with sometimes not getting a hold of Mariano only because he's been much better then anyone else who tried to help me. Like I said I no longer have that issue.

That was one of the common complaints from other forum members about him in that thread that got deleted.

It's important people know these things because as good as a doctor as he is, if he is unable to return your call in a professional manner, then what good is he?

I, too, have been trying to get a response back from him and have left messages, finally calling back and getting ahold of Paulette who said she'd get back to me, but I still haven't heard back. I wonder if it's just that he's severely backlogged as a result from being understaffed? In any case, I recall from your earlier post you stating he gave you only an hour. That's strange, as his policy is to give 2 hours an the initial visit, and 1 hr. on followups. Perhaps that was what he gave back in '07?
