Alcohol and Protein Synthesis

Ok we all know we shouldn't drink and all that, but I know of a ton of people who drink on cycle and some of us like to have a social life, which seems to always involve alcohol. My choice is vodka and some kind of juice because I figure it's the best option as far as causing fat.

I recently read an article saying alcohol reduces protein synthesis by 15-20%, 24 hours after consumption. Do any of you educated guys have any opinions if this is still the case if you're running quite a bit of exogenous testosterone? I do notice that I will get more sore a day or 2 after drinking.

Now we all already know that we shouldn't drink at all, or on cycle, and all that, so let's please talk about the actual subject here.

Yeah, it still bears weight even with AAS supplementation - but a few drinks here and there will not cause you to have an unsuccessful cycle... I have read the studies regarding alcohol consumption on protein synthesis and it reduces it both directly and indirectly. Alcohol dehydrates the body, raises cortisol levels, causes shifts in hormonal balances, interferes with the protein synthesis mTOR pathway, and requires the body to shift focus from "building muscle" to "filtering & excreting toxins" just to name a few. In addition, some that drink to be social also stay out very late to be social as well and therefore will not get a good night sleep if they must wake up at a specific time the next morning, which definitely acts synergistically and makes things much worse. It takes days for the body to simply recover from that mess and sets you back quite a distance!

However, if you are drinking in a moderate, reasonable fashion (few drinks here and there), I don't see it having a major detrimental effect on your overall progress.

Your not the only one by a very long shot 90% of the people I no on a cycle drink I have not drank in years just don't get the enjoyment out of it like every one else does lol!. But they seem to gain size etc so It must not have to much of a effect unless your trying to cut etc then I think it would have a huge effect

You may have a drinking problem If its so hard to hold off drinking during a relatively short cycle up to a few months long .

God I wish I could just cut it out all together. The hard part is that I do enjoy it, AND it's kinda wierd when you're hanging with your pals or ladies and you're sitting there sober with a bottle of water and everyone else is having fun. Plus I'm not genetically gifted at all and I know I'll never be one of those guys who impresses people with their muscles. I'm just not built that way. Maybe I'm having the wrong attitude, but I've been lifting for the better part of 10 years, cycling for 3, and even when I don't drink for long periods of time I'm still just the tall lanky dude at the gym and most everyone else is jacked. I know you guys are gonna say "well you're not eating right, or I'm training wrong," but the people who say that don't know me or how I do things so I just believe I'm not ever gonna be the big guy, even with cycling. Don't get me wrong, I'm way bigger and have put on 35 lbs of solid muscle over the last 3 years, but what I started with wasn't pretty lol.

My biggest gains ive ever made was AFTER i put the bottle down. I know your pain about being tall and lanky i looked like a fuckin spider monkey for a long time. But i said the hell with it gave it up and started filling out so youll be amazed what benefits you'll get.

Skrew all you tall fu**ers [emoji23] I'm short as hell and most school kids these days are taller then me lol!! Only good thing about being short is I look stocky most of the time haha it's all about what you want in life, maybe if your friends just want to get drunk all the time why not make some new friends who have the same gym passion 99% of my friend ships was created in the gym. :)

Back on to the subject in hand the only time I would say to 1000% not touch the drink is if your running any type of oral it will just bloody destroy your liver big time good luck on your future goals :)

I just drink socially on weekends normally.. Usually when I'm boiling seafood or cooking outside when food takes awhile to cook like 3-4 hours.. I drink to excess.. All beer to.. But since I jumped on gear for the first time I can barely finish half a beer now and I'm fine with that .. I normally drink water after a drink now to stay hydrated if I drink more than two drinks now

I stay sober. Get the wife drunk as fuck and tell her shes gonna get it whether shes conscious or not.

But to the subject it is tough to go 6-10 weeks without booze. I wont be a hypocrite as once every few weeks ill have 1-2 voddies and water.

Coming up on 3 years without drinking. I don't miss it at all & definitely one of the best decisions I've made. I was party guy, love to party love to drink. Once I got through the awkward stage of being the sober guy it was great physically & mentally.
