*Another* MESO-Rx Ranking System

Inspired by the recent ranking system mayhem...

There's only one way to settle this now :D. Short of a MESO annual convention, I propose the following formula:

Score = dead hang time (s) * body mass (lb) / 1000

Example for me yesterday:

Score = 118 s * 250 lb / 1000 = 29.5 pound*kiloseconds (lb*ks)

Anybody up in the 40-50 score range? Elite.

Could also handicap for age and sex (and AAS use haha), but you get the idea. Hopefully inspires some time off the keyboard.

Good luck. LFG and post up and your calcs and scores.

So my best (when I was doing pull ups every 2 days) was 180s and 225lbs / 1000

Give me Elite now then lol (I barely made the cut 40.5)
Can send the video of me hanging for 3 minutes to the admins if required :P

P.s. Nevermind, I am going back to my corner... I thought I was the shit for having 3 whole minutes but then I Googled dead hang world record.
Fuck you Google, I hate you.

Will give this a shot. I like competitions. It could be cool to have folks pay into a prize pool and then get paid if they win…but that would necessitate video proof.

Dead hang-time on straight squat rack (not a gay squat rack) pull up bar?

Yep, dead hang time on straight pull up bar. Did it on my squat rack last night at home so had to hold my knees bent. Will try at gym where I can keep knees a little straighter.

Cool idea for prize money and vid proof. I was just hoping to motivate folks for less time on the screen but good idea for video proof if people want in on any prize.

Thanks for joining in!

Incredible. I'm going to have to lose some weight.

Adachi told Yomiuri that supporting his 137 pounds of body weight with his arms was harder than he had imagined.

Still unreal with score of 663!

Very impressive BTW at that bodyweight. I dont think my equation properly weights the penalty function of higher body weights but it is a decent start.

Fantastic work and thanks for sharing.

I think is due to me being "stubborn" for the last 12 years and refusing to use straps for back days or anything, I managed to get a very strong grip and stronger forearms that as an ex 120lbs guy they were my weakest spot

I suffered a lot though, made my forearms crying for years lol

But the result is that I have strong grip and strong forearms which is funny when sometimes I get those idiots that want to give me an iron clad handshake, usually when I see that I go "come on grip it, show me what you got my friend" (now repeat that on your mind with a mixed British-Italian accent especially when I say "my friend")

It ends up in the dude giving everything he got and me barely feeling it then I use a bit of grip and they ask me to stop quickly.

Don't get me wrong I like to stay humble and I consider this an idiotic behaviour but being a decently sized man it tends to happen and I can't ignore it when it happens as I am stupid like that lol.

Thanks brother, appreciate the kind words

Oh geez, I will have to do a video then.

Just give me a moment as I just moved to Malta from Romania (is not an excuse and if necessary I can prove it) and I have barely touched any weights in the past month.

Tuesday I will give it a go and see where I am currently at and either post a video or get it back in a few weeks (hope I haven't lost it though as I was quite proud of that until I read about that Asian guy that did 80 minutes)

Oh no Brother, wasn't making anything out of it. There was just the idea brought up of money and stuff so I figured if people want that then we can have verified / unverified. I believe you.

I'll edit that title until this becomes $ involved. No offense.

Edit: revised.

Hopefully this thread can bring community together and not create anything more than friendly competition and better grip strength for all ;).

No worries brother I am just used to back up my talk so will do my best and yes it would be nice to have it as a healthy competition/challenge to bring us all together, actually is very helpful not only for grip strength but also for stretching and realigning the spine so is good for all of us.

I used to do them daily when I was bored between sets when training strength (had to take longer rest back then)

I like the idea anyways!

Well, just finished (went to the home “gym”). Tapped out at 2 minutes flat because that seemed like a good number and my forearms were on fire.

120 * 215.1 / 1000 = 25.812

Hyper-competitor in me wants to give it another go later this week after a rest day and see if I can push to 3 minutes

Well done! 2 minutes is something and 215 lbs isn't light either.

Please beat my 3 minutes so it will push me to do more brother.

Wow, excellent work!

Now I known where I'll be spending all my cool down time now, lol.

3 min here you come. Super grip!!

Anyone have any input on official categories vs scores please feel free to share. I just made up the 40 to 50 as it seemed really challenging floor to set.

Also, report score and time or just score on leader board? I feel like some handicap is needed for bodyweight to enter the math.

I know Peter Attia counts this as a longevity test and has different levels of below/above/elite by age and gender, can’t remember what those are though.

Would think there has to be some sort of BW component though because it’s not fair to say that me holding up my body weight at an FFMI of 25 is the same as some giant near 30.

I say report score, time, and bodyweight, lol, but may be because I am biased.
