Any guys in here who have a skincare routine or use any products, peptides, etc with anti-aging properties. Anyone try red light therapy? working night shift and the bags under my eyes and wrinkles are really starting to show. Also have some cystic acne scarring. Any recommendations at all for skincare would be appreciated!

Brother.. stop the night shifts asap. That shit will age you worse than steroids will ever do.
Fuuuuck . I can’t though dude! it was a promotion which has made my salary increase significantly. Hoping to make it back to a day or evening shift soon.

Low dose accutane will improve your skin significantly, and reduce the visibility of your acne scars.

I spent half my working life on off shifts. My last 14 years working graveyard. As it was more peaceful then the other shifts and paid better. I aged better then the vast majority of guys on day shift. I are healthy took care of myself. Took melatonin to ensure a restful sleep. But i am older then most. 50+ years of being in the sun and tanning. Gaining/loosing weight. The skin has taken it's toll. I haven't used or really read about anything that has any good data to back it up. Rubbing creams on the skin which the upper layers are all dead can help things look better but i don't see it doing much to the lower living layers.

I am curious Ghoul, any idea why accutane causes me immediate gyno? Moreover, the months following, I am incredibly sensitive to Gyno developing and estrogen in general. To the point I wasnt able to use even TRT levels of testosterone for a few years in my youth after a 90 day course of low dose accutane.

Tried to hit a low dose again at the start of summer and within a few days same thing and even after dropping it, im now *estrogen* sensitive again. My e2 levels read low but I really have to tank them to stay on my 750mg test. Its slowly eased up fortunately but I would love to do another 90 day low dose accutane course if I could find a work around.

Bought some topical GHK CU serum from amazon and my skin looks way better and smoother. Been on it for 3 or 4 months but I saw the effect during the first month. Great stuff and cheap too.

Damn yeah I always get nervous reading up on the effects of night shift and all the doom and gloom behind it. How it shortens longevity, circadian rhythms, just overall health in general. Been looking into NAD+ and like NMN for what you had mentioned as far as lower living layers go. As it stands now I don’t see myself moving of the shift for atleast 2-3 years. I don’t want to age 10 years in the face while doing so hahaha

While night shift is probably not optimal. I tend to think much of the studies done with people working that shift have to do with their life styles as well. And not just about the time they sleep. The habits of those on those shifts can be worse then what it typical.

Night shift (especially rotating shifts) is horrible but it can be less horrible if you're at least a little mindful of lifestyle habits. Regular exercise, blackout curtains in the bedroom, might have to eat a little cleaner than otherwise. Etc.

Also don't spend the off hours drinking and eating crap which seems more prevalent with off shifters. And day shifters are bad enough with such things in my experience. I sleep at night these days and still have blackout curtains up. I don't need sunlight coming in my windows at 5 AM when i want to sleep.

Dang. Sleeping in like a college student huh, Buck? Is that typical in retirement?

I hear that. I at least use a good soap and a exfoliating glove to scrub the crap out of the top crappy layers of skin and try to rub it pink to get some new fresh layer to form.
The soap I use leaves my skin feeling amazing all tingling and clean feeling.
once in a while I will do a face mask if my wife or daughter will do it for me.
I also use a good lotion, I think moisturizing is key over everything.IMG_1081.pngIMG_1083.jpegIMG_1084.jpeg

Sleep in ? I was up at 6:30 today. managed to stay up to 11:30 last night. At least the sun is coming up later then 2 months ago. And it isn't just college students that sleep in i know people of all ages and demographics that do it. But if i can sleep later i do. I am up to about 7 hours or so a night if i am on GH or a precursor. If not it is the 6 hours i got in all my decades before.

As the body keeps the Dead skin hanging around, i have to wonder if that is for a reason. Such as protection. I know things can look better if exfoliated. While some dermatologists recommend it it seem more for cosmetic reasons than anything else.

Holy crap I get ur handle buck now lol.
Not very agreeable are we.

I think op, is just trying to not be crusty and is specifically asking about cosmetic issues?

How do you share the links? I was just reading on pub med which I suck at. But it said exfoliation is not just for cosmetics but medical conditions as well, but i bet it is mainly used cosmetically like u said. It removes photodamage that eventually turns into cancer. But I think it’s more like over 90 percent of dermatologists recommend it 1-2x weekly from what I’ve seen. If they don’t recommend you do it I’d bet they recommend u pay them to do it for u.

Of course our bodys have tons of mechanisms to protect our selfs, body hair, ability to tan, calluses ect. this is 2024 and they have a thing called sun screen, and guess what I shave my pubes and I slice my calluses off with a razor blade.
I don’t like getting cursed out for having a bush or snagging pantyhose. Plus it just looks and feels nice.
