Bulking + Cutting Cycle?

Can you bulk and cut in the same cycle?
Would it be counterproductive?
I’m trying to look as aesthetic and lean as I can for this summer while also putting on some last minute lean muscle.

Stats:
Height: 6’2
Age: 24
Weight:195lbs
Bf%:12
Experience:10 years training (4 years cycling)

I’ve done 6 cycles all together. I’m just starting a new cycle. Each time I have done a cycle I was either cutting or bulking all throughout. However, recently a close friend that goes to my gym told me about his experience bulking for the first 6 weeks in his cycle and then cutting for the last 5-6 weeks and he looks insane. I’m not sure his exact stats but I can tell you he’s extremely lean and the biggest I’ve ever seen him. He says he’s just finished his pct.

I’m planning on trying this but I’ve seen so many people say it’s stupid to cut on cycle or you should just stick to either or. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and if they can share their experience or what cycle/dosages they ran and pics if any.

Ty.

In order to bulk you need a caloric surplus. To cut you need a deficit. Nearly impossible to do both at the same time.

Also you're not really going to gain much on a 6 week bulk. In the same breath, you're not really going to cut much on a 5-6 week cut.

You'd need a surplus of around 3500 cals a week to gain 1lb...and the reverse to lose 1lb. So even if you could manage a surplus of 7000 cals each week over that 6 weeks, you're only gaining 12lbs, some of which will be fat and water.

Then you need a deficit of 7000 to lose 2lbs a week, some of which will be muscle and water...

So pick one.. Bulk or cut.. See it through until you get what you want and then switch.

I think your friend was blowing smoke up your ass... Sure, tren can help with a recomp but only to a point...

I’ve thought of this myself. Sometimes you just want to believe that something is possible so you give that situation the benefit of the doubt. It makes complete sense to do each separate. There just won’t be enough time for both. Thanks.

You're thinking of a recomp and basically yeah its possible. Gets harder and harder as tjhe years go on as your body is used to the weights as you're a long long way away from those easy newbie gains.

At 12% body fat I would stick to bulking only for the cycle. However anecdotally your question Rings very true to my experience. When I first got back into this game I was extremely overweight so I did bulk and cutting in the same cycle... for instance...
16 week cycle
Cut weeks 1-10 lost almost 15 pounds fat then bulked the last 6 weeks and gained 6 pounds. Net loss was almost 10 pounds but I looked much much better than had I done a full 16 week cut.... in my opinion anyway. But like I said at 12% body fat I would just bulk brother.

My goal was always to stay roughly the same weight and just replace fat with muscle. This means that I'm constantly cutting and then bulking and then cutting and bulking. I'll post a picture of my 2-year progress below so you can see how bulking and cutting in the same cycle works for an old fat guy like me that wants to recomp. I would say in two years I've lost 40 pounds of fat and gained 40 pounds of muscle. I don't believe this would be possible without the use of AAS and GH. This won't hold true for you because you're 12% body fat. You just need to bulk brother. Screenshot_20180330-132723.png

Wow. That’s inspiring, 40lbs of fat for 40lbs of muscle. That’s incredible. I can see how cutting first then bulking at the end of your cycle was the better option for you. I might have to reverse that in my case.

What was your cycle like? What dosages did you run?

12 years ago when I was 26 years old I was really into bodybuilding and did a few test only Cycles so I had experience already. I preference my statement with that because my very first cycle coming back after 12 years was with test 750mg/wk 16 weeks and for 8 of those weeks I ran tren 350mg/wk. Not something I would encourage most people to try on their first cycle back but for me it worked extremely well since I was able to cut hard and lose no muscle.
Second cycle was 750mg Test 750mg EQ for 16 weeks.
Third cycle I am on right now, 4 weeks in 750mg Test and 350mg tren again. Cutting hard into summer. Finally down to 18% body fat from what I would assume was about 40%. I can't wait to be in the single-digit body fat again, I'll never give this sport up again, I'd rather make a little less money and be able to train. Much better lifestyle for a 37 year old.

I do one constant lean bulk. Maybe it’s due to my body type/genetics but I stay very lean in a 2000+ caloric surplus and make steady quality gains. Never really done the bulk/cut thing. Things work differently for different people. IMO find out what works best for you. I’m 5’11 205lbs 11-12% bf and constantly gaining. People say bulk/cut is the only way, I call BS
