Can touching a barbell in the gym get you sick with the coronavirus?

You ignore everything but politics? In my state 10% of the population has already been immunized. Another 7-8% has already had it. That's quite near 20% immunity. Do you think that has 0 effect? Unfortunately, while new cases have dropped, deaths are still very high, because the deaths lag the peak of new cases (nobody dies instantly upon being infected), although obviously the death rate will start dropping soon along with the new cases.

Also, that peak was just after Christmas, when folks were traveling and gathering. It makes sense the the numbers would drop a couple weeks later. Early January is not a big gathering time.

Not everything is a conspiracy.

I love how the same persons who were saying China has a Brazilian deaths and is hiding the true magnitude of the death toll are now saying the US barely has any deaths and the US is exaggerating the death toll. You simply cannot have it both ways.

Doesn’t Thailand and a couple other countries virtually have no cases of COVID because they took the shit seriously at first?

Regardless now we’re in a world where people think everything is COVID related and nothing is COVID related.

I tried another thread in the training forum. Pretty much the same stuff I have been reading. Not intending to scare but this virus is unreal.

Once you are infected, it shows no real signs at first so you are contagious without knowing (asymptomatic). Then, after you spread it around, you start to feel sick. Oh, and the period for which you are contagious is most certainly longer than 2 weeks.

Piers Morgan of all haters said it best:

Dr. Richard Hatchett said on England's channel 4 news, ‘This is the most frightening disease I’ve ever encountered’. ‘This is the most frightening disease I’ve ever encountered’ – virus expert Dr Richard Hatchett

This is hitting the US where we are most vulnerable. We have many people running around that live paycheck to paycheck, they have no sick leave to take, and no healthcare insurance. Even if a person in this group gets sick enough to go to a clinic, will they pay for a test? Will they accept a quarantine? Can they afford to do so? I love capitalism but this could really show its ugly side.

Here's the thing though..it ain't that bad. Flu with a resp component: whether by immune system or simple physiology, the strong 'survive.'

(Actually the strong get few if any symptoms, while 'unknowingly superspreading.')

If you're allergic to everything, immuno compromised, aged, whatever. Isolate yourself. Dont expect the world to shut down for you.

We are an entitled society

Tweeter doesn't load for me when i click links. Yeah, i'm heartbroken about that, but i'm curious, does the first tweet imply that we're going to hold China accountable for creating this mess, then trying to cover it up and ignore it, or is it just going to be another stone to throw at Trump in an attempt to stymie his future political pursuits?

The one-shot coronavirus vaccine made by Johnson & Johnson provides strong protection against severe disease and death from Covid-19, and may reduce the spread of the virus by vaccinated people, according to new analyses posted online by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday.

The vaccine had a 72 percent overall efficacy rate in the United States and 64 percent in South Africa, where a highly contagious variant emerged in the fall and is now driving most cases. The efficacy in South Africa was seven points higher than earlier data released by the company.

The vaccine also showed 86 percent efficacy against severe forms of Covid-19 in the United States, and 82 percent against severe disease in South Africa. That means that a vaccinated person has a far lower risk of being hospitalized or dying from Covid-19.

The analyses confirmed that Americans are likely to benefit soon from a third effective coronavirus vaccine developed in under a year, as demand for inoculations greatly outstrips supply. The F.D.A. could authorize the vaccine as early as Saturday, depending on a vote of its vaccine advisory panel on Friday after it discusses the newly released documents.
