cancer,TRT, DHT, acne

Looking for some guidance on lowering DHT. Suffered and survived testicular cancer which has left me without testicles. Began TRT (androgel) 6/07. Currently 6 pumps daily (7.5mg/day). As a lifelong fitness enthusiast and long term personal trainer, I have enjoyed mild weight gain and strength increases for a man a year away from 40. I have however begun experiencing arm and back acne that was not present in the first year of treatment. I would normally pose these questions to my endocrinologist, but recent unemployment has and is preventing my ability to maintain appointments.

My question is this.... Why acne now?

I began a regiment (4 weeks ago) of saw palmetto and lysine in conjunction with my normal daily consumption of glutamine, creatine, arginine, daily multivitamin, whey protein, 50mgEphedrine, 80mg caffeine, and 2 aspirin.

i am applying benzoyle peroxide and salycic acid after workouts and before bed. Is there anything else that I can do to eliminate/minimize the acne?

You have not posted any test results to prove that you have high DHT.
Dr marianco is not against using Proscar or Avodart to reduce DHT.
I have been using both at different times.
Avodart is very strong, daily tablets were to much for me.
If I had to use Avodart again I would start with one pill per week and (eventually) increase the dose when blood test proves that DHT is too high.
I stopped Avodar at first chance I had and switched to injections.
One reason for good results of Androgel is daily aplications, ie; frequent applications.
I use EOD, every other day T-injections.

I suggest that you test and figure out where you stand.
Suggest these tests at Quest Diagnostics:

39 DHEA sulfate
40 Prolactin
43 Progesterone, LC/MS/MS
44 Pregnenolone
45 Estradiol, Ultrasensitive, LC/MS/MS (30289X)
46 Estrone, LC/MS/MS (23244X)
47 Testosterone, Free, Bio/Total (LC/MS/MS)
48 Dihydrotestosterone (204X)

Goals while on TRT

BAT~575
E2(20-30)
DHT at upper range or slightly above it

I'm with hardasnails on this one - why is there a need for all those variables. If you eat a good diet you don't need supplements and getting nutrition from food is far better than what a pharma company manufactures into a small white pill.

Creatine and whey powder may also be a cheap way to bulk up but I wonder what real effect its having on kidney, heart etc - not beneficial effects I reckon.

On your question - TRT effects can vary from person to person and different effects present themselves not necessarily just after being on TRT. For instance beard growth would take time and acne after one year is totally plausible - try adding in cream like aloe vera when applying gel or try different gel like Fortigel when released soon in uS or Testim

No brainer: 1) try head and shoulders, or another anti-dandruff shampoo; or, even better, if you can afford it, 2) nizoral shampoo. Let it sit on the affected areas.

I agree with the other comments that you have way too much going on. Lose the ephedra stack. That's so 90s. You're too old to be resorting to such things to burn fat, IMO. The creatine causes water retention, flying in the face of the stack.

If the acne continues to be a prob, you could run low-dose antibiotics. They tend to knock off your good gut bacteria though.
