CAR STEREOS. WHO LIKES EM LOUD!

I have a Beemer M4, and it's got a fairly well equipped 600 watt, Harmon Kardon. As far as stock systems go, it's pretty damn good. Especially after turning off the Logic 7 "feature" and tweaking the EQ to my musical tastes (metal), and focus around my ear level in the drivers seat. I never believed that a system could be tweaked to converge on a specific spot; but damned if an audio engineer didn't do just that for me. Absolutely now amazed by this "stock" system in my car.

So if the stock system sounds this good; you guys that have a clue about this stuff, what do I do to make it even better? I know it can be done; but I do not have one shred of a clue.

You might enjoy a sub in the trunk... adds to all music but just has to be tuned differently. What year? Newer BMW higher end models are all fibre too so you would have to make sure the shop could do it

perfect! I could totally see that, because the in car speakers actually do what seems to be a good job.

The car is a 17. and it is fiber. Turns out, one of the best shops in the Atlanta area is Cartunes; and they're about 2 miles from me. They do amazing work it seems. I'm going to take your guidance and see about a custom sub and amp in the trunk. They can make a custom piece to fit it in the storage area on the side of the trunk so that I don't lose trunk space.

I'm also going to have them do some demon eyes, or halo's on the headlights; and load it up with laser/radar detection and jamming. They're dialed into all of the po-po frequencies in my area.

Thanks for that heads up. I read it, went to see them based upon the suggestion; and now you've just cost me a grand or so for the add on's... :-)

Jl audio amp and sub. Don't buy anything else if you have the cash.

Oh really? Why is that? Willing to spend the $$ on quality. I'm assuming your statement is that JL is the way to go.

IF so, this is fucking awesome. One of my best friends is THE senior manufacturer rep for JL audio in the southeast. He's always offered to do a hook up, I've never taken him up on it.

I got to admit. When I see a dude blasting a loud ass system at a red light right next to me especially when their like 38 y/o rocking $4k system in a $2500 civic with a loud annoying exhaust, all im dreaming off is unloading one of my 30 round 223 mags into his stupid system

Maybe I should go into the “what pisses me off thread” lol.

I can appreciate a hooked up ride with a nice system. But the banged up 97 civic with exhaust and system just aggravates me

I agree. It's like someone with an iphone x at a bus stop.... although some audiophiles dont have money- I'm just glad my car cost more than their trailer lol

Jl is hands down the best sound you can get out of a subwoofer. Get a w7 and make sure you run enough power to it.... I have hooked up and heard a lot over the years... jl systems snap off rearview mirrors.

I used to be. Not quite as much anymore. But in my new car I did put all new kicker speakers in it, and 2 12" kicker cvr subs with a 1100 watt sound qubed monoblocm amp. I did the subs and amp on a line in converter so I could keep my stock stereo. It still sounds pretty good though.

My new love of sounds though is my motorcycle. Haha

Definitely listen to @brutus79 he's rite on with the quality of JL. JL has been top of the list for a long time & they sound amazing.

I recently bought some Rockville stuff(midrange speakers and 3 amps). Pretty impressed with the quality for the price. Most of it was upgrades for my boat. It actually sounds really good for being at more of a middle price point. Hopefully it lasts.

Anyone else use or know anyone that's used their stuff?

I know it's not JL or Orion or Sundown, but the amp I bought just pounds an Orion dvc I have in a bandpass box.

I owe you a drink or "something".
I reached out to my buddy and his response was "whoever recommended that has great taste". So he's going to score that w7, and whatever the latest and greatest amp is. He told me to let him see what that would be.

I'll let ya know what he gives it to me for. I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem hooking a couple other dogs up.

Rockford makes great amps. If anything they are almost too clear... like a Macintosh amp they almost piercing highs- I never heard the mids but it's quality stuff.... a lot of people like kicker comp subs too. Definite top bang for the buck.

W7 won’t fit in my pickup. Without major changes. W3 best I can do under rear seats.
Two w3 12s or 10s hit hard as fuck with 750 watts at 2 ohms. Obnoxiously. I have always bought 3s... I only sprang the bucks because I didn't want to take up a lot of room in the truck. I have a lot of sponsees up in there and I hate taking my kids seat out if there, so a single woofer box fits the bill.

The hd750 for a 10 or the hd 1000 for a 12. That offers stable 3 ohms which most amps can't be adjusted to... I always figure that's how jl keeps you in the family- a 3 ohm flagship sub.

Ha! Ohm shenanigans... It's a thing with guitar amps too.

I can put the 10, comfortably in my trunk, with a custom box, worked into the storage area on the left side.

Hell... 3 ohm is odd. and you're probably right in saying that's how they get ya. But apparently, they're doing something right.

The 10w7 woofer alone with no box is 46lbs. It is a technological masterpiece.
