District Judge Mike Menahan sentenced Jordan Christopher Jernigan from great falls after amending his charge from two felony counts of criminal possession with intent to distribute, to just one count.
The Missouri river drug task force seized 600 anabolic steroid pills when it entered the country from the Republic of Moldova. Detectives than made a controlled delivery to Jernigan at Carroll College who name and mailing address was on the package. Carroll College cannot discuss student disciplinary issues but they did release a statement which you can read can be read below. The Court documents are in the images gallery above.
CARROLL COLLEGE’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
Due to Carroll College’s legal obligation to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), we cannot share details about disciplinary measures regarding a particular student.
While we cannot speak to a specific student’s situation, we can explain our student conduct code process, which can be found in detail in the Carroll Student Handbook (p. 106).
The college’s student conduct administrator reviews each individual case as it pertains to Carroll’s student conduct code procedures. At the start of the process, a student is asked to submit a written statement. If the student takes responsibility for the violation, the focus of the discussion is on the behavior and the sanctions. If the student does not acknowledge responsibility, the student conduct administrator can schedule a conduct board hearing to determine if there was a violation of college policy and have the board determine the sanctions.
In situations regarding student-athletes, the director of athletics will review the case as it pertains to the student-athlete Commitment to Excellence contract and make a determination regarding any sanctions.
This news article really ruined my day, for a variety of reasons. I thought if your pack got snagged by customs, you just got a seizure letter. I wonder what the mitigating factors were that made them go after this kid.
