Cats

- Do cats know when they are dying...? And always go away to do it alone..?

** Probably not, and based on the sound of the owl in my back yard that sounds like a freggin DOG...!

- However, it does appear to be that cats know when other animals are dying. Including humans..

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hey Doc, sorry for the loss. My vet sent this to me after I had to put down my 13 y/o German Shepherd.

That is a big cat. Looks happy though. I have been threatening to put mine on a diet, but I don't know if I am strong enough.

Cats bring out the nice in me to bro, I read some other threads you are on and think to myself this fucker is crazy. Then I see you like cats and it all comes full circle.

My cat finally contracted FIV. it sucks... third cat in the family to get this disease... my homie geodude has a limited time to live... this happened previously with a warrior scrapper Bob cat like breed (I forget the name but short hair like a bobcat). He died from it, had an offspring that unfortunately carried the disease, she live about 12 years and died from it. Now my current cat has it. It sucks to have cats that are territorial and love to fight. It's a risk that they go through and all the vets could tell me was keep him happy and give him the best quality life you can offer... :(

I spoke with a solid Vet in the area the other day as I was getting a feline vaccinated for rabies. Asked her what the critical vaccines were with cats. it was interesting.

She basically stated that HIV in cats is a low concern because it is blood to blood only and rare to spread readily. She also indicated cats can live really good lives with FIV...

Feline Leukemia on the other had was a serious concern to her in that it is apparently worse in symptoms and prognosis and she stated that any outdoor cat should have ASAP. I think the transmission vector was a lot easier like saliva etc... And more more serious set of complications.

So FWTW. Just trying to help and in a positive manner. But overall it sounded like FIV was pretty minimal on the radar...

Can I ask what the cats you have exhibit in symptoms and what the issues are..?

How do you think they are contracting it...?

My soulless, cheating ex pretty much stole my cat. When she kicked me out I didn't have a place to keep him and we agreed she would keep him until I did. When she found out I was with someone else she said she'd drown him before I ever saw him again. Which was ironic because she literally was in another relationship before we broke up and still is, but it was totally unacceptable for me to get with someone else a month later. Hmmmmm.

Anyway, I fucking love that cat and I'm pissed. I bottle fed him from when he was like a week old until he could eat on his own. Once I get a place I'm going to ask nicely and if that doesn't work I might have to call the cops or something. All his vet paperwork is in my name, but I don't know how all that would work. The worst part is he despises anyone that isn't me. He'll scratch and bite her and her kids for getting near him. She's just being petty. It's been a few months now and it's really been eating at me lately.

Sassy cat 10 yrs old . After my best buddy pug dog Pokey died , Sassy stepped in and became my best friend . We never gave each other a second look before he passed , now she follows me everywhere in the house and sleeps near by me every night . Totally weird and unexpected...
