Cowboy's Switch the Darkside

@Perrin Aybara, @Worf Question on Smolov

How does using my numbers actually show an increase in 1RM?

After 3 weeks 205x10x3
If i do 6 week 225x10x3

It just doesnt look like an increase but maybe because i dont know how a 10x3 relates to 1rm

Kinda just my own theoretical calculation, but it you can do 10x3 with something you can probably do 10% more for one peak set of three and then regular rep max calculations apply.

225x10x3 = 247.5x1x3
247.5x3 = 271x1

Makes some sense.... I was like shit, I am going to have run that for 6 months to hit 315...

I am not starting this anytime soon just looking at different ways tk increase my confidence and numbers on bench... getting tired of being a poverty bencher

Could go by RPE too. If you're getting all 10 sets then your first set would be RPE 7-8.

225x3 @7 could be calculated as 225x6
225x3 @8 could be 225x5

That's 260-267x1 E1RM

Thanks of course math is math and being under the weight is different. I want a 315 bench by the end of the year at the latest.

Shit.... somedays i have too much time on my hands and all i think about is lifting, weight, how to be better at it, etc, etc, etc.....

1. Thinking of trying a wider squat stance after watching the powerlifters in my gym. They all do very wide stance squats...
2. They also all wear squat shoes, thinking maybe I should as well for squat and bench...
3. Tomorrow is Amrap bench at TM which looking at the last couple months has not moved much. I still have the mental aversion to bench for some reason. My actual lifted single was 245 in November. Twice since I have done 235x2 and 205x4.....*edit* also hit 100DBs last week for 3....Bench my weak link and for some reason scares me lol..
4. If I hit a high enough rep range on squats Friday I want to pusj the 405 Squat in 3 weeks same week i hit my 500 deadlift.
5. Why is this all i think about? Shit i even fall asleep planning and visualizing my next lift day

Meant to comment on this earlier, but been driving all day and got caught up in the determining maxes conversation.

If a lot of people are doing something I mean it's a good sign it might be the way to go, but keep in mind we're all different and different stance widths and bar placements work differently for all of us.

As far as thinking about training I think about it constantly too. More than I think about anything else for sure. When I'm driving for hours I'm thinking about different program setups or even visualizing a PR attempt.

You and I had this conversation not too long ago, about being obsessive with the sport and lifting in general.

@Btcowboy I believe it’s the only real way to see longevity and meet long term goals—be obsessed. Personally, 99% of the content I watch is about lifting..different styles, different movements for each body part, etc. I’m the same way as you, I visualize my next training session while on down time or going to bed... I always visualize my big lifts for the next day, and make sure I pull them perfectly in my mind before I actually do the lift (sounds weird, but it’s hard sometimes haha). I go through what my last session was for that day (max bench/ Dynamic, etc) and see what I need to work on, which determines what I do the next day.

it all comes as part of the game, and it’s a good sign—it means you’re committed.

So have a little more money this week and want to buy some squat shoes.

Store near me is supposed to have Nike Romaleo 3, Adidas Power perfect and Leisting, and Reebok Legacy.

Online I can order Sabo Powerlift

Thoughts?

Are you going to be doing high bar? Raised heel shoes are usually more suited for that. I got mine used for dirt cheap to try out before shelling out a couple hundred.
I do high bar correct, only way my elbows and bicep tendon dont hurt. Thinking will also help me with a raised heel on bench. Powerlifting here doesnt seem to be much here. Crossfit and functional fitness seems to be all the rage here. So getting used squat shoes will be tough. Doesnt mean i wont look

Do you wear squat shoes? I seem to think you mostly do low bar so assume not. So a recommendation on ones you like may not happen lol

I have the Reebok Crossfit U-Form shoes.

Yes, low bar is my preference, but even a couple low bar sessions makes my elbows hurt so bad I can't bench for a week. So for now I've switched to high bar until I figure something out. I've actually barely done any low bar the last two years, just the weeks leading into my last meet mostly. Did front squats most of last year as my main squat. When I switched back to low bar I hit a lifetime PR after doing it a handful of times, so must be carryover.
