Cowboy's Switch the Darkside

@Perrin Aybara, @Worf, @NovaFlex, and others. Comments on technique and or form on that squat? Things I missed and can work on?

I question knees may be not enough forward, and also for squat shoes I still may have my torso to far forward?

Edit sticking point seems to be the common one. Work on activating hips at that point

It still looks to me like you're doing high bar position with low bar mechanics. You wouldn't notice it as much with lighter weight because you can power through. With low bar position you can power through what's kind of a good morning, but in high bar it's pretty difficult.

Ok i might be missing what you mean. I try to break at knees first, which i know low bar hips first. I am assuming you mean leaning too far forward and should be more up right?

Yes. The raised heel shoes in theory help with that.

Think of like a see saw. If someone is all the way on the end it's gonna be harder to push down compared to if they were a few feet towards the middle. Or picking up a pole with weight on the top, easier to lift if it's upright, harder if you're leaning it. Moment arm it's called. If you're high bar you want to be more upright.

Thanks, I really do appreciate all the help, support and feedback. While I may never do a meet, at least dont plan on doing one. I still want to be the best and lift heavy shit properly as if I was at a meet.

You never know, you might get the hankering to do a meet.

I may, I may not.. I need to get squat mechanics down pat and break the 400 mark with right form and depth for squat. I hate putting weight on my back and having it not count. Deads I think I am ok, I will video my single PR attempt in a few weeks to get feedback. Bench just sucks lol

Little engine that could

I used to have the exact same problem on squats. Had the bar too high trying to do low bar mechanics. Got the bar position right and it made a huge difference. Only problem was eventually it started wrecking my elbows. So now I'm doing high bar. I'm sure you're perfectly capable of doing low bar with low bar mechanics or high bar with high bar mechanics if you commit to one and practice.

Well my elbows tell me high bar so high bar it is. I have 2 weeks before i get to my next rep or single pr attempt so weights a bit lighter. Chest up and flex glutes may help..

Would toes out more or a slightly wider stance help?

I'm still pretty new to PL
But my biggest strength in increasing my bench has been tricep isolation.

Even after a broken elbow... now that I'm back on benching, I'm finally going to hit my 315 in a few months.

Just got 275 for 4 (Could have gone higher, but I was alone as the gym)

Close grip Tricep bench has made the difference imho

I dont think tris are me weak point. I have apparantly always close grip benched so trying to get pecs caught up .

I like your numbers, one day lol

I am just looking for a reason i lean so far forward. Is it stability, fear, mind over matter. Maybe just been squatting fucked up for so long

I'm leaning towards that last part with maybe a little stability. When you front squat or goblet squat are you able to stay upright okay?

It does look like he’s sitting back fairly far for that to be a high bar. I kinda looks like the John hack Med-Bar type squat
