Creatine Mono

Hey All - first post in this particular forum!

I'm in the middle of shedding a lot of excess weight. Doing it very slowly/carefully as not to lose any muscle in the process, and also as a change in lifestyle. No fad diets here. Just proper nutrition. Went from a latenight junkfood diet to 6 smaller meals a day combining protein and carbs, with more starchy carbs on training days, less on cardio days, none on off days (carb cycling).

Short version - I've already dropped 25lbs in the last 5 months, and gained 5lbs of lean muscle.

Anyhow, I'm considering Creatine and thought I'd come here with some questions. I've just seen too many contrary arguments in my research to feel like I have a handle on it, so I thought I'd just start bare here and see what kind of feedback I get.

- Any recommendations on a good brand/creatine product? Like my Whey protein, I'd prefer it as natural as possible.

- Any thoughts on cycling it? Timeframe, doses, etc. I see that most people who have had good success with it have treated it like AAS to avoid their body adapting to it, and seem to do it a couple times a year.

- Any added ideas/opinion?

I appreciate the opportunity to be here and even ask these questions, so thanks for the great forum!

Just get a decent whey protein supplement, Like Gaspari Myofusion, or Optimum Whey Protein, or any of the others, and Take a scoop before bed, and another after your workout.

Aside from that, get a good multi vitamin.

Well as far as creatine goes, you want to find a brand that has a"Creapure" label. Meaning that the purity is at least 99.95%. Some products coming from different parts of the world like China, have purities which can be as low as 90%. There are carcinogenic byproducts left in those. One of the brands that is Creapure is Prolab. I have used this brand for a few years now. Also Creapure is made from the most raw ingredients, not from animals like others. A kilo of it is about 20$ USD, and it lasts for a long time.

there's no need of treating creatine like AAS lol, when i'm bulking i put 5 grams in my PWM and thats it, on off days i drink it in the morning with orange juice, you can do a week of loading with monohidrate, i use only monohidrate cuz for me it works better than CEE

What are your reasons for considering creatine? Creatine monohydrate is pulled into muscles and used in the form of creatine phosphate. The creatine phosphate system lasts 15-20 seconds facilitating the most explosive and powerful contractions in a set. These are typically the first 4-6 reps. In subsequent contractions anaerobic and carnosine systems kick in. You stated in prior posts that you do not use heavy weight and your reps performed in slow motion. I don't think creatine would benefit here.

Based on what you're saying, how would creatine NOT be effective/helpful in any exercise routine, especially if it helps facilitate greater strength?

As for the post you're referring to, I think you might have misread my comment. What I was saying is that I prefer proper form/motion and timing to weight, and believe it yields much better results. That doesn't mean I don't lift heavy, it simply means that I lift as much weight as I can without sacrificing the ability to control the timing of positive and negative motion. Pushing around a ton of weight for the sake of itself doesn't = good training, IMHO :-)

Well, if you take 5 seconds per rep and you are performing a 20+ rep set of low/moderate weight, then why the hell would you need creatine for four explosive, powerful reps? Lactic acid would be the enemy in this case and a buffer such as beta alanine would be the appropriate supp. However, if your busting six to eight reps of heavy weight then that set would be fueled primarily by the CP system. Here creatine would be a valuable asset. But what the fuck do I know.

Okay, that makes a bit more sense, although I don't do the 20+ rep routines. Maybe some day, but not right now. I go for 14 then 12, alongside as much weight as I can push without sacrificing timing/form.

its FOOD not a drug. eat 5gs a day.

Some people do argue that its fine to take it everyday, but over time the cell receptors become less sensitive to it and it becomes less effective.

I prefer to cycle it for about a month then go off for a month. I've heard the figure 1 gram per 40 pounds. I do like to load with about 10 grams for maybe 4-5 days then go to 6 for the remainder.
