Diet Soda's, fake sugars, etc. - healthy or not?

Patience of a saint typing that out man.
Nah mon I actually copied and pasted it from an article. The point is coconut sugar is not processed with chemicals.
It's sometimes mixed with sap from other palm plants but it is actually more similar to maple or agave syrup.
All of these sugars can be bad for you If not used in moderation.
Real organic plant based sweeteners are obviously the healthier option as well as honey which I don't consume because I am vegan. :)

That's good to learn and thanks for your input.

And did you make a lot of gains on a vegan diet? Bet Vegan Gains is your idol :D

Never seen Vegan Gains but heard he was a cocky douchebag!
No Meat Athlete - Plant-Based Diet for Fitness | Vegan Recipes & Nutrition | Vegan Fitness & Running
This is a site that I hit up quite a bit.
Yes of course I can make gains on a vegan diet! We have already covered this topic on this board. Five years ago I was a 130lb drug addict and now I'm around 177-180lbs and still have the same waist size and all on a vegan diet.
Oh and gear of course! :)

I took a look at the articles there before and they are an interesting read.

Naw just messin' with you as when I think of vegans who train I think of Vegan Gains!

Glycemic load doesn't mean shit unless your a fat diabetic. Let me guess you are carb watcher? Haha, whatever..
I' would rather use the sugar that has vitamins and fiber in it naturally and that is in the middle range of glycemic index rather than any chemically processed rubbish with a low GI.
A few facts for you.

In grocery stores, we find an entire shelf of “stevia” in the form of processed liquid drops and white powders – all highly refined chemical extractions from the leaves, in the hopes of reducing the aftertaste. The resulting processed sweetener is called myriad confusing names such as stevia, stevia extract, Rebaudioside A, Reb A, steviol glycosides, etc, and is anywhere from 2X to 350X sweeter than sugar, depending on the blend with other fillers. As a high-intensity sweetener, a little goes a long way, therefore it is often pre-measured in packets or mixed with other fillers such as GMO Maltodextrin, GMO corn Erythritol, inulin fiber, or even cane sugar. Processing is done with a variety of chemicals, such as, methanol, arsenic, ethanol, acetone, etc.

The resulting artificial sweetener called “Stevia” is toxic and unhealthy.
Don’t be fooled by the name, that seemingly innocent stevia we find in grocery stores is a chemical concoction just like Splenda and Aspartame. In fact, it’s probable that you’re buying a blend that’s 99.8% Erythritol, a fermented sweetener made from genetically modified corn, with a pinch of refined stevioside powder. Your “Stevia” can be processed, mixed with chemicals, blended in a hundred ways, and still legally be called simply “stevia”. Refined stevioside is sold under countless brand names such as Sun Crystals, SweetLeaf, Truvia, PureVia, Stevia in the Raw, Pyure, and NuStevia to name a few.

Commercial Stevia is bad news.
Stay away from it. That’s Stevioside and Rebaudioside. All “stevia” in grocery stores is processed with toxic chemicals. If you’re still going for the story that stevia is natural and comes from Peru, know that 85% of all stevia comes from China. Even the world’s top stevia marketer, international sugar giant, Cargill, manufacturer of Truvia and PureVia with Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, has all of its stevia produced in China.

There are no vitamins or fiber in sugar, smarten up. Xylitol is actually good for your teeth and digestive tract . Tell me what kills more people each year, sugar or artificial sweeteners? Huh? To me, nothing tastes as good as sugar but I'm interested in trying the coconut sugar.

Coconut sugar actually has a very low concentration of nutrients present in it bc it's made from the sap, not the actual fruit.

Also, I don't see how you can demonize processed foods in one post yet admit to using processed vegan protein powders in another (pretty sure you've stated you use powders to help you get your protein needs in).

Now you're either being silly, or trying to be cute.

"Stevia is a sweetener and sugar substitute extracted from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana.

The active compounds of stevia are steviol glycosides (mainly stevioside and rebaudioside), which have up to 150 times the sweetness of sugar, are heat-stable, pH-stable, and not fermentable. These steviosides have a negligible effect on blood glucose, which makes stevia attractive to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets. Stevia's taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, and some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at high concentrations.

The legal status of stevia extracts as food additives and supplements varies from country to country. In the United States, stevia was banned in 1991 after early studies found that it might be carcinogenic; after additional studies, the FDA approved some specific glycoside extracts for use as food additives in 2008. The European Union approved stevia additives in 2011, and in Japan, stevia has been widely used as a sweetener for decades."

Another example here of the FDA's utter uselessness. Wonder how many lives would have been better if they had consumed Stevia rather than loads of high fructose corn syrup?

Don't try to bake with either stevia or xylitol - the bread won't rise.
No, he's making a great point. Oleanders are flowers, and are poisonous too. Well, shit, everything is poisonous/toxic, it really is all about the dosing. This is a huge factor people tend to forget... You eat enough salt, sugar, water, what-the-fuck-ever and it can be toxic (LD50).

Coconut Sugar is an ideal replacement for cane sugar. It's low-glycemic, has a pleasant caramel-like flavor, works well for baking and dissolves in hot and cold liquids. A sweet bonus: coconut sugar's nutritional profile includes amino acids, potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron and B vitamins.

That's bloody obvious.

The topic on hand was natural versus chemical sugar substitutes.

Jeez

You're such a wannabe keyboard warrior sometimes. Listen, we get that you have no real practical knowledge or experience, and like to temporarily regurgitate info you read online from some hippie guru.

I still eat processed food sometimes brother. I thought this thread was about healthiest sweetners. Like I said they can "all" be bad for you if not used in moderation. I am not knocking anybody's personal preferences, of all people all have no room to talk. I have never talked shit on any of my omnivorous brethren. To each there own! :)

Glycemic aspects are irrelevant? Interesting opinion. Now we know anything you have to say about nutrition is irrelevant.

Plants can be processed and packaged poorly or well, separate issues. Not all produce carry bacteria because the farm workers crapped in the fields and didn't wash their hands.

I guess you stay away from caffeine, protein powders, vitamins, supplements of all kinds.

Hell, you stay away from steroids too, you must be 100% natty, right?

Haha, another unwanted trolling faggot here at meso. Way to flip the the subject after I prove you wrong! Typical...

Have you ever grown stevia? I have, it's organic, you tool.

OP asked about "fake sugars" - and I pointed out that stevia isn't fake.

Enjoy your ignorance, I thought we were here to learn - that's hard if you can't even classify the materials correctly.

Where did I classify the materials...?

You literally sold stevia as a safe alternative due to it being natural. Eman pointed out that being natural does NOT qualify it as safe or healthy... But I AM the fool, yes, okay.

Call us meatheads, or whatever you like. It's quite obvious how little you fit in around here, and are functionally worthless in all aspects.

This I can agree with wholeheartedly. I can never be a vegan but I will not mock their food choices so long as they respect mine as well.
