^^^^yes this is very true, when I turned 18 Moved back to my home town and was living in the wood in a tent I got, my dog for almost 8years now, a all American pit.. He was 7months old and he did look happy nor look like he liked the people who had him, it was a old friend, the person gave him to me because he knew he was in good hands plus the dog had a strong connection with me.... I took him back to my spot in the woods and showed him love, safety, and a stable foundation, well I was drinking alot at that time and drank to much the night before... I woke up the next morning to let him out and my ex's dog, a boxer, unfortunately I fell back to sleep, than woke up to realize I left him out of the tent only having him for a week, to my surprise when I opened up my tent there sat Hennessy wagging his tail, but the boxer was nowhere to be found... Hen has been through three pregnancies, the first one was the biggest impact on him... We came home from the hospital with our first child, as my wife walked in first hen greeted her sniffed her belly than dropped to the groung with his ears back and whimpering... Than he looks up and see me walking in holding something he walks up to me semi-excited till he got a better smell of our newborn, than his spirit lifted and he went spastic, running back and forth, wagging his tail, and jumping up and down.... He has always played so gentle with the kids and women, but with men he knows he can play a little rougher... He even has raised to kittens, and two ducks... Dogs are truly are the best companions by far... Cats are cool, but they have a come and get me if you want me attitude... Although it ALWAYS depends on how the dogs are trained, loved and cared for that will determine if what dog it will be visa-versa as well it always depends on if the owner is capable of training, loving, cared for like dogs should and deserve to be....
