Does “Estrogen Rebound” occur after stopping Aromatization Inhibitors (AI)? “Estrogen Rebound” being that after stopping an AI, Estrogen levels rebound to levels higher than when the AI was first started.

not sure if that is the best way to define the phenomenon

perhaps the question should be "do estrogen related side effects increase to levels higher than when the AI was first started"... I don't know

How is what you said any different?

You speak to the effect (E related sides)
Doc asked about the cause (elevated E)

different because it brings up the possibility of differing sensitivity to estrogen

I'm not saying this as a definite, just like to entertain all possibilities when theorizing, even ones we might not think of or consider at first

If I had use subjective symptoms there would most certainly be answers all over the map. Over the years, I have come to find people make associations that are both true and false. Therefore, it is best to use something measurable (objective). At least for this poll!

I've been on AIs and I've been off AIs and while I certainly notice differences being on vs off I've never experienced any rebound effect. Matter of fact I'd say I've had many more low E2 sides than high E2 sides....even when stopping AI cold turkey.

I dont believe in estrogen rebound.

The question has several elements that should be observed. One is rate of conversion - the rate at which the body coverts testosterone into estrogen. Does this change once supra physical amounts of exogenous testosterone are introduced? Or does the rate remain constant? And what about volume? Is this static or dynamic?

Also, when supra physical levels are returned to baseline, does rate fall or continue. And if it remains constant, does the volume continue past baseline (rebound)? And if so, how far and how long will this anomaly occur?

IMHO, based on blood work and empirical information, estrogen rebound is a myth. The "rebound" is actually the hormonal changes taking place and your body simply trying to find homeostasis. This is whats causing the issues that most complain about and refer to as "estrogen rebound".

I challenge anyone to post healthy baseline bloods, then run a cycle, then post post-cycle bloods (with their free and bio test levels within same range as pre-cycle bloods) and showing higher than baseline E2 levels.
