my latest doctor had me try amitriptyline. It’s the only medication I found that offers some relief. The worst my IBS ever got had me in the bathroom 3 to 4 hours a day. The amitriptyline slowing down something now if I’m very careful with food, I may only go one to three times a day, which is a miracle. You might wanna try that.Yea I feel it. That's why I don't attempt to follow the fodmap thing anymore. I'd rather just put up with it since I know it won't completely go away. One thing that is weird and actually pretty much normalized my bowel movement was when I take semaglutide or mounjaro. I tried them to help with my binge eating habits and during the time I am on them, I feel almost normal. Granted I am and IBS-D kinda guy lol so the fact that those peptides slow digestion is what does the trick I think.
As far as the peptides, I’ve never actually tried any to be honest. I do need something that slows digestion. Only tried one medication in the past that does that which was called fiberzi. That shut my intestines down and I ended up in the hospital on a Christmas Eve.
