Glycine is indeed a buffer and is used as one - but it is not too common imo.

Yes you are correct gylcine it's used as a buffer. I just don't see it used often in pharm grade HGH prescribed in US but there are a few. I do believe it's used in Humatrope and maybe one concentration of many in Omnitropes.

I believe excess glycine can effect whole GH HPLC data isn't that correct @jano?

Removing glycine or others like cystine and tryptophan does not effect the margin of error in AAA testing is what I've been told.

No Mr. Mands, Glycine cannot affect HPLC reading in any way if the whole molecule of HGH is being tested.

Both in RP-HPLC and SEC-HPLC it would literally be impossible for glycine and HGH to co-elute (ie: to screw up the readings).

I was under the impression excessive amounts of almost any solute can interfere with mobile and stationary phase separation!

Im told that's why HPLCS require the use of ULTRA-PURE water. Hey Jano throw some dirt in that mixture and see what happens to your data, lol!

Yes Mr. Mands, that is certainly incorrect. A few tens of mgs of glycine can hardly be considered excessive.

Further that can be extremely easily sorted out either by dilution, variation of injection size or by use of the SPE cartriges/syringe. Even if there was a gram of glycine per mg (so thousand times more) it wouldn't be an issue for any moderately experienced chromatographer.

Mobile phase has to be Ultrapure water. Sample certainly does not.
