Help me get some protein in me.

i bench 40lbs

New Member
I drink about 4 of 350cal protein shakes(1 scoop+milk+peanut butter) every day to help reach my daily cal. intake goals.

I'm on my 5th week of Tren A & Test E cycle and I've gained twice as much strength&endurance. However, I've only gained around 6lbs on the first week, and I've not gained any weight ever since. I weigh 183.5lbs on empty stomach in the morning, and I take around 2800~3200 calories per day. (180~200g of protein per day; all cals were measured precisely with a kitchen weight scale)

I get plenty of rest, and I dont skip workout day.(6times a week) So I'm pretty sure its because of lack of nutrition for not gaining any weight for the past 4 weeks.

I have no clue what I'm doing wrong in my diet, or how to even make proper killer protein shakes that could boost my daily cal intake.

Any ideas?

Not nearly enough calories or protein. Add more food not shakes. You need to almost double the protein intake.

Have you been leaning out a lot?

I would start with more protein too. Try up to at least 250 From real meat, with the matching fat. Can you lay out your diet any better?

If that can't be done, then you can fit a good 1500 cal in a shake. Differing viewpoints on that, I can only put down one and don't go higher, so I don't care to comment. Food is good though.

Only other thing could slow you down would be training frequency, but most people can handle six days on gear. If you're feeling strong then probably not that.

Your protein intake is fine. You need more calories in general of which you could fill with protein or carbs would be my option.
Wouldn't he want to take in more protein than that? I was under the impression that the gear increases protein synthesis and he's only at about a gram per pound.

Switch out some of, or even all of, the shakes for quality food. A lb of chicken breast has 100+ grams of protein and all of 500 cal, or get some more calorie dense meat to up your cals. Its a lot easier done than most who complain about inadequate protein make it out to be. 3 lbs of meat = 300gs protein. Add some carbs, keep your shakes if you want, veggies..
10 lbs of meat = $30 = 1000 grams of protein, give or take.
A 2 lb bucket of protein powder = $30 = who cares, buy some beef.

Solid fucking advice. OP, save your shakes for when you don't have time for a meal. Your primary source of all your nutrients should come from real ass food. Eat!

My protein powder had little to no carbs and is very low in vitamins. I use ON Gold Standard. Good protein source but only good for a quick protein fix. I have to get my macros in full meals. Aint nothing more anabolic than good ole fashion grub.

Well first of all you have to start benching more than 40lbs:D:p jk jk. The guys that have already responded should have no problem helping you with your goals. Im the type that trys to get all my protein from straight food rather than shakes. Don't get me wrong shakes are great but I just believe real food is far more superior than shakes alone.

He's well over a gram per pound of lean body mass. Increasing the protein intake won't hurt and might possibly help but if he's not even gaining weight then bottom line is he needs more calories period. Protein being more satiating than carbs would make it easier to get more calories in with carbs. More carbs eaten means less protein being turned to glucose via gluconeogenesis and in turn leaves more protein to be stored in muscle tissue. Many ways to skin the same cat to make that general Tsao's chicken

Don't get me wrong I love me a good steak and burgers and if you look at OGH's food thread you see I eat a lot of real food but some days or stretches of time shakes are much more convenient for me. I'll get in about 100-150g of protein from shakes some days. Others none. It just depends on my schedule

Oh same here , I have days where just because of convenience I will drink multiple whey protein shakes or even Ensure or Boost high protein drinks.

Are you typically a hard gainer?
Six times a week may be too much... I always want to kill the gym, but ive made better size gains by reducing frequency and forcing myself to rest more

Oh man Oh man..I only have a few more weeks for tren. It'd be a massive disrespect for mr. tren, if I had started to do more rest days :(

I guess I'll have to replace the shakes with chicken titties and egg whites.

I'll report back in a few days!

I've gained around 1lb. of lean muscle every day. I switched my diet 3days ago, so a total of three pounds were gained so far(now weighing 187 pounds, and bf around 12~13%). I started adding tons of fruits -grapes, apples, and bananas- to my daily diet, and replaced a lot of protein intake from shakes with chicken titties as well.

I've uploaded some pics of food I ate on this thread.

Watch the fruit. Apples are good because the fiber keeps you shitting which keeps you hungry which keeps you eating- but fruit is just suger. Red meat. Did I mention red meat? Red meat.
Fats are good too- olive oil, coconut oil, almond butter- load that shit up. I eat chicken, pork, eggs, milk, oils, oatmeal, whey, good old pb&j and beef every day. Fucking eat. I haven't been under 270 in months... food works.
