High blood pressure (critical level)

I’d be worried abt a blockage or something, you need a heart scan done asap

I got a BP monitor today so I can check myself daily between GP appointments and see what's going on at certain times of the day and in certain situations rather than waiting 2 weeks for check-ups. The 1st reading was not great though. Monitor hit 224 then switched itself off lol. Later reading said 160...

Is your BP cuff the proper size for your arm?

Yes mate. I lined it up between the arrows in the "ok" zone and wrapped it around my bicep/upper arm region. The 1st test before checking the instructions was closer to my elbow/forearm lower down though so it must've taken a reading from a main artery hence why the numbers went bonkers.

I experienced something similar while going to get my elbow checked out. I was 160/100 and ended up on 2 different meds and getting a ton of tests done. End result being I have a bicuspid aortic valve and now routinely see a cardiologist.

224 over what? 160 over what? What is the lower number?

like 160/95

or 224/115

Numbers like 224/115 are what blinded a friend of mine. He struggled with his health blind for a couple years, and now he is dead.

This also affects the kidneys greatly. It is not something with which to play around.

If you are on anything at all, even just testosterone, stop now.

(1) Did the "surgery" (I guess you are in a country outside the United States) prescribe you any blood pressure medication? With numbers like that, you are probably going to need two different types.

(2) What do you weigh?

(3) How good is your diet?

(4) What sort of cardio are you doing?

All four things matter a great deal. Forget your cycle. Get your health under control before you damage something irreversibly.

I can't remember the "dia" or "pulse" numbers as I was just looking at the systolic on those readings. Levels seem to be coming down now based on readings as soon as I wake up but I'm starting doing 2-3 readings throughout the day now to try and an accurate idea of what's going on.
No cardio and not even training/lifting atm.
Clean diet but only eating 1-2 small meals daily atm.
Getting drunk too much lately. No appetite.
15.5 stone/217 lbs.
GP put me on 2 meds. Candersartan for high BP and Atorvastatin for high Cholesterol.

Glad to hear you have a doctor treating.

Hey, though, get on the cardio and strength training!

You should probably stop drinking for a while if not entirely. But I’m sure you know that.

At least walk. Getting some cardio will help with the bp

Not if in USA. If you have mediocre health insurance, you'd have to leave the doctors office and call a specialist to find out who you need a referral from, make an appointment with them, get the referral, make an appointment to see the referral, and so on, and so on.

I pay more for the convenience of not having to jump through all those hoops, but it isn't cheap.

Not judging and I have no recommendations, just noting it's not great no matter how you slice it.
Screenshot_20231219-154859_Gallery.jpgworst I've had. My dr wouldent let me leave the office until I took meds and to wait a hr for it to come down.

Holy shit brother, I hope that's under control now.
Yea fyi that's after a test 750 tren 300 bulk, and on no bp meds obviously lol.

Thanks , I'm sitting around 130/80 now something like that.

I hear what ur saying about u.s 100 percent about needing referrals and specialists. I had been complaining to my dr for 6 months about neck pain I told them I have a pinched nerve or a messed up disc . I know my body. They kept saying ur fine its just a muscle strain after 6 months of it got really bad ended up in the er.

What did they tell me? 2 herniated discs. I'm thinking about getting a lawer for this.

Been there with this. I was almost crippled. Had a complete rupture where the pulp of my disc (L2/L3) was crushing my spinal cord. Had L4/L5 discectomy years prior. Went back to deadlifting. Thought sumo would be safe. Would have had cauda equina where you have to piss and shit in a bag for the rest of your life in prob a week or two. Docs blew me off for a couple weeks until I could get my own mri. Had to call out myself to 4-5 different places. As soon as radiologist saw it and wrote EMERGENCY in all caps on the report, they finally acted. Emergency surgery. You have to be your own advocate nowadays. Our healthcare system has been trash since Covid. The pain was unfathomable. My wife is a PA. Luckily we know the system. If you want an mri quick you have to say you’re having issues pissing. Can’t control bladder. Etc. at least with lumbar issues anyway.

And this was no bumpkin hospital. One of the best neurosurgery/orthopedic groups in the country. Orthopedics is the money maker for any hospital. But no one seems to give a fuck anymore.

To get back to the topic, no one lets you walk back out on the street with a 200bp without you signing ama.

I hit 165/130 at the GP one day. I was stressed out, eating like shit, drinking a half bottle or more of whisky or triple that every few nights and overweight. I was an all around Fat Bastard. Got on Test, Quit drinking totally, took some sugar and salt out of my diet and I'm good at 130/80 when I'm totally at rest and relaxed. Pulse still runs in the 90's no matter what I do. Always has.
These numbers I'm seeing here scare the shit out of me, lol. I had to wonder for a minute when I first seen the post with over 200 Systolic and getting ready to do a blast. I'll be the first to say I don't know anything about what is normal or not, and I'm definitely not judging. I'm sure I've got at least a few rounds of going hard in my future.
It was funny though. I thought "Am I in the right place"? Having a daughter and getting older has turned me into such a bitch, lmao.

Cardio will bring that resting heart rate down for sure.

Yea i have good coverage too, suposibly the best in my area.

Yea no its not just lumbar its ur whole spine, they were worried about me loosing control of my bowels and mine is cervical i gota little piece of disc pressing my spine and a nerve too. Its not super bad though I don't have to get fused just a discectomy awell.

My wife is in the medical field also shes the one who made me go to er, she said they're the only ones what will take u seriously.

Since covid i have had MRI's CT, scans, visits with ortho and cardiologist, surgeons etc and never had an issue getting quick service really . The CT and MRI's took a week or 2 but i also was in no hurry and only made appointments for when it was convenient for me. So that is part of why it took long. Sounds like it is more about where you live then anything.

Discectomy you’ll be back on your feet in no time. You’re right, the fusion is what we want to avoid. Thats the real horror stories. Cages, screws, etc. You sound well versed so you know. Instability is why they do the fusion. My discs just ruptured. Doc said could be genetic predisposition for this to happen twice. Good news is, older we get the more the discs begin to calcify - lowering chance of herniation. Good luck bro. You’ll do great. I can’t deadlift or barbell squat, but my lumbar feels great, and quads have never been bigger from split squats, walking lunges and the sled.
