Home gym opinion

Why not buy/build a large shed if you got enough land? Also then you can train without the noise bothering the family. One acquaintance of mine has a large 16x20 garage type shed with all his gym gear inside and there's enough space for everything even fully loaded ready to use.
That's where I'm at. We're looking to move this year, so I'm undecided whether to invest in equipment now and then make sure I've got enough space or I've even considered if we get a smaller place, selling the lot and joining a gym. Tbh though the thought of giving up my own set up and having to compete with others to get on a machine.... Meh

Sorry for the disappearance - fucking sinus surgery. Anyway, damn MP, you have a super gym there LOL My gym hopes to grow up to be like your gym one day LOL

Sinus surgery doesn't sound like much fun, hope you are feeling better Smalls.

If you live anywhere near a major city in the US Craigslist can be your best friend in building a home gym. Amazing how many people go out and get nice equipment, use it less than ten times, let it sit for six months and then sell it.

The white rack in the picture cost me $75 on craigslist, the black one which has a quality high and low pulley was $150. It may take several months of checking two or three times a day to find the good deals but if you are on a limited budget it is time well spent.

I like to add a few exercises before bed also, I have the basic needed equipment for dumbbell work: dumbbells 2x 10lb, 2x up to 50 lb and 2x up to 110lb. Adjustable bench and a pull up bar on the wall which can turn into a dip station because the part is actually movable, can post a pic later. But no deadlitfs possible for me is not optimal however really useful in general.

Craigslist is key. Im moving in a few months n plan on putting mats down for my girl to do her insanity and getting punching bags and basic equipment to start. I still favor the gym for their abundance of equipment, but who knows once we get that going.

After the basics (power rack, benches, DBs/barbells, etc), I'd get a cable crossover in lieu of the leg extension and lat pulldown if it were me. I think it just offers more versatility.
