home made bulk protein shakes

I'm so old school, I'v always just drank milk. I looked the nutritional stats for Fairlife and they're very good, so I ran out and got some. The only downside being price. I heard the chocolate makes great shakes. Looking for receipes now.
Pricing sucks but get it at Walmart - it’s always cheaper than anywhere else.

And yeah, the chocolate is frickin awesome. Only downside is they use artificial sweeteners in it, which turned me off to it.

in the spirit of this thread(and to break my midnight raid of the poptart closet) does anyone have a protein shake recipe that I could pre-make to have waiting for me when I wake up in the middle of the night? I don't want the usual one that includes oatmeal, as oatmeal doesn't do well for very long.

How many calories you looking for?

The bigger the better. I'm getting older so I don't need to max out to bulk but I never seem to get enough calories as I eat pretty clean 500-1000 would be fine..

Why choose a carb/protein shake over poptarts?

1 cup Fairlife - 20g protein
1 cup Skyr plain Greek yogurt - 25g protein
2 scoops protein powder - 20g protein
2 tbsp peanut butter - 8g protein
1 banana
6-8 large eggs (raw, pasteurized if possible) 36-48g protein

This shake has close to 1200 calories

That is basically my morning shake but with yogurt instead of oatmeal and the eggswhites. That said I just bought my first carton of egg whites. In the past I always just used eggs. (old school again).

YOU are NOT helping my addiction! I get up in the middle of the night and stagger over to the poptarts and hammer some milk so I can stave off my hunger for another few hours. Lately, I've been thinking maybe I should at least try to be more responsible.

Seriously, bud... Why trade something you like if you don't have to? I mean, if you're actively trying to lose weight then that's one thing... But it's just a matter of calorie balance.

Even if you're eating two poptarts plus a glass of full fat milk, you're still hundreds of calories below the 1200cal shake outlined above. That shake would soon become a pretty big issue... Even if you drink a standard shake with water, you're looking at 200cal minimum. That's like eating a poptarts... The macros are different to be sure however, if you're already getting sufficient protein during the day then it doesn't really matter that much.

If you like it, and it's not really setting you back, I wouldn't be concerned about it. If you're knocking down half a dozen lol, that's another story. Make the adjustments to generally eat what you like.

500ml milk
1 scoop whey
1 scoop casein
2 scoop instant oats
1cup oats
2 tablespoons penautbutter with extra protein
3 teaspoon nesquik cacao
1 can real greek yogurt

i dont have myfitnesspal now but its 1200+ calories with 100+ protrein

I also just seen the fairlife at the grocery store. I’m also curious if anyone uses unsweetened almond milk for theirs?

Yeah, since a year over.

2 cup Unsweetened almond milk (2c, 2p, 6f)
2 pk lightly sweetened apples & cinnamon quaker oat (42c, 6p, 3f)
2 scoop (3c, 51p, 3f)
100g greek yogourt (10c,9p)
3 whole eggs (18p, 15f)
1 banana (25c)

82c, 27f, 86p something around 900kcal

could add pb for more cals when needed

My go to:

8oz egg whites
1 scoop chocolate isolate
2tbsp pb
16 fat
13 carbs
59 protein

But that’s on a cut right now. I’ll likely just blend some oats in for more carbs when it’s time.

Hunterbro I agree oats get thick overnight but still drinkable. If it bothers you I would say just buy some carbogain or some other type of carb powder to mix in.

Eman I would agree in a sense. Don’t make protein shakes a staple of your diet unless it’s a necessity. If you can conveniently eat 6+ times a day then do it! My meal timing necessitates that I have at least one a day when I’m working. I have one in the morning as well just for the convenience. I think using real foods like egg whites and oats makes it a bit superior than just using a couple scoops of whey.

I used to use fairlife and liked it but it is a bit expensive. Also, have you ever smelled it? A fresh bottle of it still smells awful haha it’s a bit concerning.

Bulk shake? 16oz whole milk is 300 cals, 2 scoops protein is anywhere from 150-250 cals, peanut butter can be 200-400 cals. At minimum that’s 650 cals. Drink in the AM and post workout and it’s easily 12-1400 cals. Cheaper and so much better than that filler-filled “mass gainer”

It’s really easy to make a bulk shake with just milk, peanut butter, and whey. Throw in a banana, strawberries, and/or blueberries to get some real flavor.

Also, tablespoon extra virgin olive oil. Great fats and omegas. Also an easy 100 cals that you’ll never taste in your shake. Disclaimer - it will leave an oily film in your shaker cup.

I mix my own blend of natural protein. After moving to Peru.... I've notice protein is about twice the price down here. What costs $20 in the states is easily $50 here. So I went on a search and came up with this blend that has been better to me than protein powder itself. This is my new favorite stuff. And it's less than 25cents a serving.

1Cup Kiwicha Powder = 15 grams of protien
1Cup Cañihua powder =15 Grams of protien
4 Tbsp Maca Powder = 8 grams of protien
= 30 grams of protein
I also mix half a cup of milk and half a cup of water so all to gether I'm getting near 34ish grams

For 25cents a serving, the best part is its all natural.

One of my favorites....

Greek yogurt of your choice
Chocolate Whey isolate
Frozen bananas
Oats soaked in almond milk overnight
All natural roasted peanut butter
Honey
Cinnamon
Almond milk

You can swap out the yogurt for ice cream if your feeling naughty and add sugar or sugar free chocolate syrup.

Fuck... talk about spilling over. The body can only breakdown so much protein at one time the rest is stored as glycogen to be used as fuel,
however, if you are already taking in too many carbs, then the protein because stored as fat.
Why not atleast increase you anabolic state and increase you fat and protein instead of having a ton of carbs.
Now take the fact that I live a keto lifestyle, my example even before keto looked a little something like this:
2 scoops of equate whey isolate
3-4 tbsp of peanut butter
MCt oil or macadamias nut oil or,
12 oz macadamia milk
(*has 2 net carbs and no lactose and fat and protein from a superior source.)
300kcals 5g/f 12g/c 60g/p
360kcals 36g/f 12g/c 14g/p
75kcals 9g/f <2g/c 10g/p
Total - 735 50fat 26carb 84pro

Try that shit
