How do you feel about intermittent fasting?

When my activity level was lower
during injury I found myself inadvertently intermittent fasting.

After seeing the benefits to it when my activity was lower I wonder about incorporating it now that I’m out of therapy and training again.

The goal is to cut as it stands, and continue to strengthen from the injury. How do you guys feel intermittent fasting could play into those goals?

I am not using aas and am running a deficit.
I have started my cut already.

for me ——> personally <——- IF is the best shit , especially on aas

16/8 fasting is so damn good, I get leaner and stronger , have more endurance during my gym sessions, better pump, less water retention, loosing fat and building muscle at the same time, more life energy , better sleep , and not tired during the day anymore.

But unfortunately I can’t do IF right now because of my current daily routine.

I know 99% will say it’s shit for building mass etc, that’s why I said for me PERSONALLY it’s the best

I have only heard great things about it, never anything negative. I have never tried it myself though, what would be the potential beneficial reason be for smashing all food intake in a shorter time-span compared to the traditional belief that eating e.g. 6x a day is better for a steady flow of nutrition?

Not a fan, makes me very hungry and can't stop myself when I'm allowed to eat.

Preferably I'd like to not eat till 10 in the morning after waking up, but I have to since I don't work from home.

By the way first cup of cofee in the day kills my appetite for 2 hours or so, second one is not so potent.

Its a tool to let you have bigger meals as opposed to more smaller ones, just shortening your feeding window. Seems to be individual how well it works for people, some guys feel like shit until they get food in, some feel better and function better. Do what works for you.

It can be okay for cuts, suboptimal for gaining imo. You want to be supplying amino acids 24/7 and consuming enough leuchine and EAAs every 3-4h if you want to maximize MPS vs MPB aka gains. It might not matter that much in the real world, but id rather be on the safe side when im trying to gain.

^ You could use the same argument in a fat loss scenario, but to each their own..

Has some health benefits when used as a strategy to reduce energy intakes (cutting/dieting) but is the opposite of what you want when gaining or bulking.

Appreciate the feedback gentlemen. It worked well for me to keep weight gain to a minimum while minimally active, and I felt good while doing it in my previous situation. Sounds like from what most everyone thinks it’ll be good to continue since I’m cutting.

Eating later in the day is how I I have been doing it. I definitely throw in coffee too so I’m not sure if what I’ve been doing counts as a true fast or not. But a guys gotta have coffee.

With that said, since I want to continue cutting but am also still focused on healing further and strengthening from my injury, I wonder if supplementing with Amino Acids while I am fasted would be a good idea? Feels like a good option.

Been doing this since 2010. Moved from typical 16/8 to a 22/2. I eat a lot in the 2 hours and can easily lose weight if I refrain from my normal calorie intake.
2 hour eating window. That’s pretty wild man. Interesting take on it.
That must be a busy 2 hours. Ha

l have been doing 18/6 for 7-8 years and think intermittent fasting is the best way to eat if your in to health and longevity, but if your wanting to put a lot of size on stick to 4-6 meals a day.

I've found it useful for cutting weight, but for my athletic pursuits it often doesn't fit my schedule. The only thing I can do decently while fasted is low/moderate cardio. I prefer my normal eating habits and mild calorie restriction for fat loss. Also, when fasted I'm hungry as all hell. Becomes mentally tiring over time and takes away from my ability to think clearly because my brain is screaming for food.

Used to do 16/8 religiously. Noticed 2 things. It took a few months to really get used to the hunger pains in the mornings (black coffee saved me). My body does not like fasting more than 12 hours, evidenced by my ravenous binge eating post dinner before 8 pm debacles. Never again. Plus breakfast is too good.

I think it’s an idiotic way to diet for most ppl. Maybe once in awhile to reset insulin sensitivity or change things up for someone who had been eating several means a day for a long time, but as a primary way to diet it’s just stupid IMO.

I once met a girl in the gym , couple years ago, she was literally contest ready and this was her basic shape, chick was shredded af and pretty muscular for woman and she told me she‘s doing 18/6 for 6 years straight and she was building lean mass continuously

This was the point when tried IF for the first time and I got stronger and heavier and leaner all the same time ( I was on test and tren back then (when my body tolerated Tren) and I was on this two compounds for couple months but when I started IF I made ridiculous improvements (over all ,not only gaining muscle and loosing fat but it improved my sleep, I wasn’t tired anymore and Had more energy during the day like I got more shit done and didn’t waste time

So for me it was the opposite of what you guys telling

I imagine it can be very person specific I suppose. The important thing is you recognize what works for you and go with it regardless of what ppl say. I never considered the sleep and energy level aspect of the diet and you are probably right about that.
