have you had an actual CFU or species test done on your microbiome? there is likely something else at play(although same result regardless), as gut biome can affect conversion rates of certain things ie DHT with creatine I believe was his example in a podcast I just was listening to with a dr on hubermans podcast.
I have very little faith in nateropaths and their tea leaf blood readings they do, of course can offer good advice many times, but at the same time is very much a pseudo science and went to one as was given a gift certificate. Just sort of sounds like a naturopath is telling you these things about overgrowths, which of course CAN happen, but they tell that to anyone suffering from any gastro issues for the most part or whatever is the new fad of the decade ie gluten. And it gets perpetuated as folks love a diagnosis and majority of people do feel better when cut out a shit tonne of carbs by not eating gluten. anyway, making an assumption here, and very much could be a MD who told you this.
at any rate.
doxycycline: cranial nerve toxicity; neuromuscular blockage; or intracranial hypertension
here is a site and outlines classes of antibiotics and effects. may note effects on gaba and serotonin systems which of course affect sex..
Psychiatric Adverse Effects of Antibiotics. may want to look more into other ways of getting microbiome in check vs antibiotics every few months. also, like I said its possible other conversions are happening with is linked to microbiome but not an overgrowth per say. ie perhaps protein powder you use or creatine l caritinene are converting at undesirable rates or causing biome to get out of whack.
REMEMBER: fungi are very much similar to humans so antifungals are 8/10 times toxic to humans aswell( I am also old enough to know that majority of "safe" fungicides herbicides pesticides, end up actually being toxic to humans even when the theoretical pathways shouldn't cause problems). Nystatin for example is to be used topically because of its toxicity particularly RENAL. IF you are taking it orally its for MOUTH infections, than yes it has a whole list of side effects and is mostly destroyed in your stomach re "this medication will NOT kill fungus in other parts of the body ONLY mouth or skin" is what they say, perhaps why can be taken as a mouth wash as little makes it to the gut and absorbed. at any rate not something want to take regularly or in high doses.
have you done a food allergy test? do you regularly eat fermented foods or probiotics? usually taking antibiotics kills off everything and causes further misbalance in gut biome, just from experience sometimes takes a months for peoples guts to get back to normal after antibiotics.
anyway, prob won't change your mind but something perhaps to consider as taking antibiotics and antifungals chronically is a very bad thing to do for MANY reasons. placebo is powerful(fake ED pills tend to work pretty good too
Could a 'Placebo' Become the Next Big ED Treatment? ), and I just learned vast majority of ED is from phycological reasons (re a study of penile rings that observe night time erections in men with ED and most of them are fine, which is pretty surprising, although perhaps because T levels are high enough at night, just interesting, not saying this is your case as prob have gut issues too, which of course are linked to mental health aswell)
Cant argue with your experience of them working well for you but may want to dig deeper to see harms they may be causing and if in fact any actual literature on "overgrowth" and libido.. is there actual literature on libido and candida overgrowth? and are you not taking exogenous Testosterone anyway, so even if candida lowered test levels your within range so that shouldn't be the issue
and perhaps going after what's causing the potential overgrowth is smarter than taking antibiotics? killing all good bacteria just put you in a cycle where will continue to have issues and need more antibiotics as no "good bacteria" left to keep bad from overgrowing. food for thought anyway.
here is a paper saying high testosterone actually PROMOTES candida growth... hmmm.
