JayMaximus's First Meet Log

I think you've got me on bench and raw squat? My mom used to be an English teacher when I was a kid, so I'm kind of OCD with it spelling and grammar. I think years of auto type/auto correct has had a negative effect on it though. When I write for real I realize I've forgotten how to spell some words.

A couple oversized 45's of various, larger diameters would be perfect, then just slap on whatever other plates you want and instant block pulls. Kind of like using all 35's for deficit deadlifts. I should apply for a patent.

jerk boxes are expensive but you guys are crafty enough you could fab some stackable ones for 20% of the cost

I've never seen those giant plates anywhere. I'm not surprised someone already made them though, seems like a logical step.

The boxes would be cool except packing them back and forth to the gym. My gym is weird about leaving stuff there because a guy I know tried to leave his deadlift jack and they freaked out and said it takes up too much space. The gym manager doesn't lIft, by the way.

Are the carriage wheels available to the public? I've seen them with mark bell at strength training gym and with Brian shaw in his personal gym but never found a purchase place
you can buy them on the rogue site...fairly expensive as rogue is real trendy right now. That being said everything I've ever bought from them was quality

Wouldnt those big ass weights change the whole dynamic of a DL?

Or are they just for mimicking box pulls?
partial range like from blocks

ROGUE WAGON WHEELS
Co-developed with award-winning powerlifting coach Mark Bell, Rogue Wagon Wheels represent a new innovation in deadlift training—a way to do block pulls without the blocks. The project started with a simple question:does a 45LB plate have to be the standard 450mm in diameter?Once the clear answer was “no,” we set to work with Mark to create a durable, over-sized 45LB plate that could produce many of the same essential benefits of using blocks.

Rogue Wagon Wheels are made from 3/8” thick laser-cut steel and measure 26” (660mm) in diameter—a difference that elevates the bar about the same as setting it on 3” pulling blocks. At this height, the bar is well positioned for partial range-of-motion deadlifts, making it optimal for taller athletes, those dealing with lower back or knee issues, or any powerlifters looking to work on their lockout. The wheels are compatible with most standard barbells, and they enable multiple users to quickly load or unload the bar with no need for a rack or jack.

Rogue Wagon Wheels are sold in pairs and include a simple, clear coating for a raw steel look. If you like the idea of doing your block pull work without actually hauling out the blocks each time, consider this your long awaited re-invention of the wheel.

Benefits for Powerlifters:

  • Easier to get into a proper deadlift position and maintain a neutral spine
  • Specifically targets sticking points
  • Great for overloading deadlifts
  • Good tool for teaching new lifters how to deadlift
  • Can use with mats for incremental height adjustments
  • Easy loading and unloading of other plates
  • Can be conveniently stored the same as other plates

YA!
...right after you make mine
(seriously though start a thread I would be your first customer. Shipping out of your neck of the woods puts you at a disadvantage but you could still make it work)

holy fuck...the rogue sets are over a grand
Rogue Wood Jerk Blocks
Well after checking out the dimensions, i see they are double sided so materials would be 120-160$ but still pretty cheap to make.
And i have a shit ton of 3/4 ply left over from several jobs that would be perfect for this.

Update: Rest Day

Did some laundry. Didnt fold it. Its still in the dryer. Ill pull it out as I need it. What if its wrinkled? Turn the dryer on.

Also I need to find a new barber around here. I look like a hippie. My hair has to be almost 1/8th of an inch.

Found this laying around, jabbed it in my quad!
