Main Reason Bush/Cheney Won

Well, I understand we pay for social security now, but SS works based on the idea that we pay for it now, and the people after us pay for it blah blah. Either way, it's guaranteed we will have a certain amount of money in there, because of the amount of workers now, and the amount expected to be there within 50 years. If the money is invested, it has the chance to multiply, and make it easier on everyone, BUT it also has the chance to fail. Now, if this president had made tons of investment choices with our tax dollars, and had a proven track record of high gains, i would back this, but I really don't need to state the obvious about the president. I just don't want my money to possibly be wasted. If it did fail, us workers would have to cover the debt and difference, and who knows how things would be in 30 years. I must admit, they're saying SS will be dried up in 20 years, but they said the same thing 20 years ago when my parents were dealing with it.

I have a better idea. How about YOU take care of YOURSELF and manage YOUR own money in order to have enough for YOUR retirement, because, quite frankly, I don't give a fuck if YOU die and I don't want to be paying for YOUR shit.

With the amount of money that I will save in taxes, I can save for MY retirement and be much better off well before the current retirement age.

....and you can get that new 10-speed you have been eyeing. :D

oh a Texan backing bush's policies, who woulda guessed? Listen, I have money saved. I'm 22, I own my own property, I own a new car, I have a fantastic job, and I plan on living well. NOT EVERYONE is as fortunate as we are, and instead of being selfish, think about your friends, and family that aren't as well off as you, that need that SS.

What a tool I swear, we're having a good conversation, and you had to stop cleaning the stables to come on here and make a stupid flame... good

Where was the flame? What are you some kind of fucking pansy who gets offended when someone disagrees?(that was a semi-flame right there. ;)) I was simply pointing out that YOUR retirement is YOUR business, not mine.

And when did I hail from Texas? Shit, a few months ago I was going to make a post equating Texans with the French. LOL In fact, I don't think anyone posting in the last several hours is from Texas. I don't know about Jbiggs, but Kayz and I are both midwesterners. I'm supposed to like Kerry.

I have a horseshit job that pays fucking bullshit money. I'm still not asking you with your "fantastic job" to cover my ass. It's called personal responsibility. The gov't should protect you from physical harm/theft from me and the country as a whole from attacks from abroad. Other than that, your life is your own responsibility.

Would you like to know why most people don't have money for retirement? Because they piss away all their money. I drive a Cavalier. I will drive a used Cavalier(or maybe a larger model, but still used) for the next 25 years. Maybe more. Why? Because I don't need a new Benz and the 80k savings will go a lot farther when put to useful ends. If you want a Benz, that's great. But fuck you if you think I'm paying for your sorry ass later in life when you're broke. (and that ain't a flame, either)

i'm confused why you brought up roe vs wade. this is the most ridiculous decision i've ever seen. two women, one in her third trimester and one in her first. the one in her third goes in for an abortion...a crime in my opinion. the second, the women in her first trimester, is shot and killed during a robery. now, the robber is charged with the murder of two individuals but the women who just had an abortion, with 3 months or less before she was to give birth, goes home and lives her life. explain the justice, morality and lack of hypocracy here? yup, i am not an abortion fan. i do not claim to have all the answers but am frustrated by this scenerio let alone the fact a women still has the "right" to end the life of a child to be born with less than three months till birth.

You are right, there will always be zealots who will take things to the extreme (on the right and on the left). You should no more take Bob Durgin's word as gold than you should Michael Moores word. They are both as you said zealots.

I do, however, understand Christianity. And the fact that you would say, "No true Christian would say you'll burn in hell if you don't attend their ""brand of Christianity."" shows me that you do not understand Christianity.

What makes a "true Christian" in your eyes is a sinner to many other Christians. I had this discussion with a born-again Christian that I worked with once. He said that Mother Teresa would be going to Hell because she wasn't born again. It's these people that won the race for George Bush. The higher than usual turnout wasn't from young folks as many first thought. It was from radical Christians. A billboard on a major highway where I live summed it up best. It read in whole, Followers of Jesus Christ, where are you. VOTE. These are the folks that put the election over the top for GWB; they give no care to the economy, national debt, war on terror, or the war in Iraq (and yes, they are separate wars). These radical Christians care only that their brand of morals are spread throughout this country and the rest of the world. And contrary to popular belief, they are not a small percentage of people. Congratulations on siding with them and if your wife or girlfriend should ever become pregnant after Roe v. Wade is over turned; just remember, your vote helped shape the moral climate of the country for decades to come and the choice to bring a child into this world as well as many other freedoms will no longer be up to you they will be up to those that, voted for the agenda that was put forward. And as far as my, Liberal view is a decreasing sect of society. Im sure glad youre ok with 50.96% of the country making all the policies for the other 49.04%.

If you can see that calling 49.04% of Americans a decreasing sect of society thereby dismissing their views and opinions, well you will have learned true, as you put it, love and compassion.

the reason bush won is clearly because , the majority of americans feel the he is the better of the 2 choices...also most of the people i know that voted for kerry really dont know jack shit about politics...they just voted against Bush...

If 56 milllion Americans walked in front of a moving train, you would follow...correct?
Most people don't want to think for themselves, so they look for others to tell them what to do or believe. Politics and religion or very much the same in this respect.

So in your opinion...Dems think for themselves and Conservatives only follow religion! Who told you that?

Kerry lost. Get over it! You'll have your chance again in 2008.

NOT if McCAin runs on the Republican ticket...it will be over before it starts.

Also, if the dems put Dean in charge of the DNC, I think it's over. DEan even turns off democrats.

PLEASE NO MCCAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can I be any more vehement?

I have lost a lot of respect for McCain in the past year (and not because of his stance on AAS)...but the public loves him and he'd definitely win. Especially if the dems run Billary.

I doubt McCain will run, he is getting too old in his early 70's I believe. I like him, and I am a democrat...he would be almost a lock unless a democrat came in and ran a Bill Clinton like campaign(love him or hate him, he was a natural politician). Barack O'Bama and John Edwards are two dems that could take down McCain, or Jeb Bush if he runs...Rudy Giulani might run but a lot of republicans don't like him because of his liberal social policies. We will just wait and see...

O'bama is a powerful speaker, but he's too young. He'd never beat McCain. Like Edwards, he hasn't even got his feet wet in the senate! Edwards couldn't even carry NC for Kerry. In fact, the consensus was the Edwards lobbied for the VP position so heavily because he was facing defeat if he ran for Senate again.

McCain is straight, 100%, cockgobbler. Talk about a motherfucker who likes to interfere in my personal business. Jesus Christ! And that's about all I can say about that without using "fuck" or some derivative every 2 words.

Historically, VP's hardly ever make a difference. But he should carry his home state~Sensational
