Mark Bell's Slingshot

Yeah the Bowtie works well for skull crushers. I don't have a Slingshot. No more afternoon bud for you. :p
Is that what it was?? Bahaha! I was at the gym one day and THOUGHT I had remembered our conversation, so I started to think about the mechanics of a FP with the slingshot. Not gonna happen lol!! I thought you were fucking with me!

When the arm is back to normal I'll give it a go w the bowtie. Yeah dude, less kush in the early afternoon might be needed :):p

@Wunderpus

So gathering info from what you said in this thread, primary goal is just to get a stronger bench. How you use the Slingshot will be the factor. Meaning where you place them in your training.

we were talking about this last week or something in @Perrin Aybara log. you have a couple options, use it off the bat and work up to heavy sets of 5's,or 3's. Then take it off an do bench without it. OR, you could do your normal bench work then throw it on. Increase weight by 5-10% do a few sets, then your last set do an AMRAP. i think AMRAP's and heavy sets of 5,3 or 2 are where the Slingshot will shine. The heavy sets allow your CNS and stabilizers adjust to the Heavy weights. Doing AMRAPS allows you turn overwork the weak muscle groups in your bench.

I'm trying the last set AMRAP method with the Slingshot now. Never used it like that before. Close grip also. Looking to hit the triceps more at the moment.

In the past I used it alone on my deadlift day. Warmed up normally up to around 315lbs and then did 5x5 or 5x3 with 350-385lbs with the Slingshot and that was it for the day. Handling that heavy weight really improved my bench. If that's the goal I think it's more beneficial to have it be your main bench movement of that day. Doing it after other pressing prevents using maximal loads with it. At first I was doing paused bench on my deadlift day (Monday) and using the Slingshot after my main bench on Wednesday. When I switched it to Monday it made a lot of difference doing it fresh. Never noticed it affected bench on Wednesday either rarely going over RPE 9 by the last set and starting the 5x5 or 5x3 with an RPE 8.

At some point you could work up to a single at RPE 10 just to let your body feel the weight and get you over any mental roadblocks. I know 1RM training isn't your style, but handling it with the Slingshot makes a difference with how heavy weight feels. It's not overly taxing either.
