Mass specs give purity scores. Keep in mind that purity is often unrelated to potency. You can have a high potency product with poor purity.
Depending on the source/makeup of the impurity, lower scores can create problems, like pip.
Pip is, as a general rule is related to metal content. Usually metals are picked up in the manufacturing process if procedures are not tightly regulated.
Raws can also, obviously, contribute to impurities. I can't recall the details, but there are methods of misinterpreting mass spec assays. Th Chinese will often give the misleading data, showing 98% purity, when in reality it is much, much lower.
In reality, your average home brewer produces product that is around 55% pure.
60-70% is good-very good, 80% is excellent, and pharm is usually 90% or above.
My gear has tested 56% and 73% respectively. I am going to sever my relationship with my partner, unless these numbers move up. He is very serious about getting to the root of the issue. We use all glass, so the impurities are coming from somewhere else, most likely the powder. 73% is way above average, but 56% is bathtub brew. I am, to say the least, very unhappy with these numbers. There is no arguing over high quality science.
Lab max tells you that either the product is there, or not there. Purity % tell you about quality.

That's the problem. Mass specs are very expensive. The way most get them done is through a publicly funded University lab. The government funding pays for most of the costs. TA for tests are maybe 10 days.
So, you are getting the government to pay for the test of a substance that the government deems illegal. Ironic.
However, mass specs will in all likelihood become cheaper and more accessible over time.

Someone PMed me. I have also become fascinated with Mass spec testing.
Kind of my hobby horse right now.
Picking up some 91-93% pure gear soon. There is one place that is proven to have that score. There are a few others that are well into the 80's. What other people think of me does not matter. Getting extremely pure gear is what really matters, IMO.
Mass specs are the future, and this is a great thing for consumers.

How can you even come back to Meso and expect to be taken seriously? I can't say I'm surprised you came back. I fully expected it.
