Mir looks fat at 265
Brock cuts from 300+ down to 265:D
Brock is a significantly larger man by genetics

yes but how much more weight did he have on Mir in the fight, i dont think u can gain 35 pounds overnight. All im getting at is I tihnk the weight difference during the fights wasnt a large difference

Overeem is solid but to me has a weak jaw. I swear every time I catch his fight he's either winning or getting knocked out
He's definitely lost a step. He looks like he's off gear and I'd guess that's a confidence rattler when you don't have that extra edge your used to.

That is the advantage is it not? Every fighter tries to squeeze in to a smaller weight class. Its an innate advantage a naturally larger fighter will have against some one who is right for a given weight class

Brock ALWAYS cuts to make 265 limit. No, most heavyweights do NOT cut. Hes a massive individual. As for my supposed "ego trip", no ive trained martial arts since i was 3 and spent 5 years in the corps and had 2 amateur mma fights at 16 before i knew how to even begin an armbar. I've prepared myself to be confident not egotistical. Whether lifting weights or training/sparring I've always liked bigger guys to prep for those who THINK they can just hold me down cuz they're bigger. Anyways, dont wanna take my word for it thats fine. Alot of fighters are getting by these days with pure athleticism. I go to fights regularly in east tn and watch the local pros and amateurs and the trend of guys going in and just slinging fists and not knowing when simple escapes or submissions on the ground are available is ridiculous. Regardless of what base you have, you need to be well rounded, not just a wrestler. Look at what Cain Velasquez did to brock and i dont even like Cain. I wanted brock to smash him

Each body type has pros and cons, bigger guy usually have more power, but gas quicker than the smaller fella , smaller usually have more speed less strength. Having some pounds on someone could be an advantage but how much of an advantage we dont know? Depends how much weight it is.Comes down to conditioning and technique alot of times if the size difference isnt large.

It also comes down to the individuals mind set, skill level and so many other factors.

U just said u went against 300lb of muscle or something it came across as bragging, i have 300 pd guy from my gym can guarantee if he gets in top of you your going nowhere

Yes but brock is different beast. He trains like an animal and just moves like a welterweight or middleweight

I wasnt bragging just stating size doesnt automatically give you control over someone even that drastic size difference. That sucked having that guy on me but it was an experience i wouldn't trade cuz ive never had anyone else that size train with me again so had no worries from then on

I've also learned quite a bit since 2009 and now i know i could've had a better chance with some techniques i practice regularly that wouldn't require getting him off of me. Jiu jitsu is like physical chess. There is so much shit to think about in training. I love it personally

This discussion for some reason brings the royce vs kimo fight to mind from back in the day. Royce caught him but kimo wrecked him.

Yes good example of not being well rounded. Although the gracies refused to win by any other means at the time cuz they wanted to prove bjj was the best.

Art jimmerson. Just re-watched it. Awful.
Yea you hear why he only wore one glove? Make sure Royce could tell he was tapping...gracies picked him cuz he was small and wanted to make more of a statement. I think he only weighed around 160.

He did. I believe royce was 64 in that fight so he was close to mandatory retirement
And stubborn as ever too
It was just epic the way Hughes did it
And Royce refused to tap even tho it clearly wasnt in his best interest
Much respect

No doubt. I just hate seeing the Warriors I admire in their past their prime. Penn is a prime example. He's one of my favorites of all time.

Hendo defied father time. He may be my favorite wrestler to watch fight. He'd scoop you and put you on your head or bang it out with you. No lay and pray from him.

Randy couture. He would've scooped brock had brock not grabbed the fence and Randy was like 45 when he started
