Florida has alot of public land, many in special Management areas, mostly swampland around prisons, or in middle of national forests. Hunting pressure is intense, many lazy hunters who just drive around and hunt from their trucks. I have found great success by chosing my stand location at the edges of large cypress heads. Get in early and let other hunters flush and get deer moving. Hunting on the small palmetto patches, on little islands are a great way to see deer. Its so thick in most places you can only see 30 yards or so. Another practice is using hounds to flush them out. Not much need for a rifle down here, a good shotgun throwing OO BUCK is the preferred weapon. No fat on these deer. The rut starts early, just prior to bow season.
