The Red Sox are probably shittin their pants right now, knowing that they couldnt close to deal and their arch rivals did (or will later today).

Steinbrenner is the ultimate in sports team owners and the players flock to him and his winning ways.

IT is really ruining baseball. Comeon, the guy spends 10o-150 million more on salaries than the rest of the league(with just 3-4 exceptions). That is pathetic. The boss needs to have his heart attack and arod needs to fucking die in a plane wreck. ANyone who truely loves baseball must pray that bad shit happens to those clowns. I know that is aweful but I really do want bad things to happent to those two and scott boras needs assraped by a fucking elephant

So u think that the owners should keep all the profit the yankees make, instead of bringing great players in ? I just saw Ben fuckin Afleck say the same thing about the yankees.. I wish I was a reporter I would have asked him to put his salary in the news paper and see what people say about him and his fellow actors making 20mill a movie!! All hypocrits!

Lol. Yes that is true. I am changing my draws as we speak however gimmy a break with 2 of the 3 top shortstops on one team. Dumb move in my mind when you spend that much money and lose a Soriano as he is a phenom plus a player to be named later.

I dont think the sox are in bad shape with the Shilling/Foulk pickup as that was the only thing missing from last years team. Now the yanks got some bats and lost pitching. Oh well gonna be a great east this year.

Go Astros, Pats

They are a bunch of hippocrites. I dont agree with supporting the overpaid actors, singers, athletes etc. I wont pay 40 bucks to see a concert etc out of principle. I think the fans should boycott the game. Demand ticket prices and concessions to come down about 1000% and we would have a good sport again. 5 bucks should be the limit on tickets. A hot dog should be 50 cents etc. If people weren't such pathetic sheep than it would be possible

if you look up and down the yanks lineup, they've got 8 potential .320, 40 hr guys. and they spent $210 mil to do just that.

one weakness: they still have middle road pitching and defense. if they pick up maddox it's almost unfair. this is far beyond outta hand, baseball needs a salary cap.

I'm with you on most of this Thick, but for me it's not entirely about the money any particular player makes, or even how expensive being a spectator has become. (Though it's sucks that taking my pop to a game and buying a few beers cost's almost a bill)

What drives me absolutely crazy is the hypocrisy of the league with regard to the salary cap etc. The Yankees can aford to pay the league 10% of what ever amount they exceed the limit...........there is no salary cap for them. It makes it almost impossible for a smaller market franchise to build a competitve team.

Sure chemistry will happen......the right group of guys at the right time can become "David's"..............only in MLB the next season Goliath offers them all whatever under the sun they could want to throw stones for the bad guys.

Moving one of the best shortstops ever (though I don't like him) to third? The Yankees being what they are.......picking up the most expensive contracted player ever...........a shortstop..............to play next to Jetter............it kills me.

Before it's said by the Yankee fans around here...........I'M NOT A HATER...............I just love baseball.

Rangers

First off, who gives a shit about the Yankees or Red Sox!! All of those Northeast blowhards think the world revolves around those shitty places. The Ranger fan has been betrayed this past weekend.

At the beginning of the 2000 season the Rangers had claim to winning the AL West in the 3 of the previous 4 years. The Yankees eliminated the Rangers in every one of those seasons and went on the win the World Series. After a disapointing 2000 season, Tom Hicks whipped out his 12 pounder and signed the best player in the game. He promised all of us fans that A-Rod will be the centerpiece of a team for the next decade and that money was not an issue. The Rangers were at this point a major player in baseball.

However they failed miserably over the past 3 years not due to Alex, but due to other terrible contracts, notably Chan ho park. Hicks now did a 180 and instead of caring about winning it, was all about the money. There is speculation that Hicks' other business are in serious financial debt and this, and this reason alone is why A-Rod is gone. If anyone thinks this money that is no longer their responsiblity will be deferred for other people are just plain silly.

It is dispicable that the best player in the game is traded, or given away. He may go down not only as the best player in the game, but the best player EVER to play the game. In twenty years reflecting back I am afraid every Ranger fan will look upon this day as the worst day in their sorry franchise.

Alex didn't want to be here and I don't blame him for that. Tom Hicks lied about spending money around Alex to win so I don't blame him one bit for wanting out of here. It's a shame it all came down to money.

I am so sickened by this.

Gotta disagree with the good FUCKROD comments. He thought he was good enough to carry a team. He signed a contract that has really hurt the game of baseball and deserved to be stuck on a losing team. The rangers had no chance of getting enough good players b/c of the amount they spent on him. It is both of their faults. The yankees bailed Arod out. After they named him captain of the team even. It really is pathetic how Hicks, Arod and boras handled the whole thing. Bunch of backstabbing fuckwits and the cocksucking yankees come out smelling like a rose. I think they just dug their own grave this time b/c so many people are getting sick of them that new rules will surely be put into place. edit: I hate Karl Malone but he is one of the few pro athletes that actually backed up his mouth. They all say how important winning is but than demand so much money that winning isn't possible. Well he took several million less to have a chance at a championship. I was impressed with that

This whole deal is good for the Yanks and probably good for Texas, as they cant afford to keep him. No one person can make a good team. ARod was greedy for taking a deal knowing that the rest of the team wouldnt be all that good, and the owner is dumb for signing a contract that large. The Yanks can afford anyone they want and could likely have the entire American League all star team as their roster. Now that the deal has been approved, the Rangers still have to pay about $65-70 million over the rest of A-Rods contract. At least now he can win a World Series.

But who cares, its still baseball. ;)

yeah he's got the reputation of blowing up in the post season. but if you leave out his rookie season i think 89 w/ Chicago and the 2000 NLDS vs the Cards, he's 2.58 lifetime postseason. "what if, what if" i know. i hate the fucking yankees. smallrod will now burn in hell w/ the rest of them.

you're damn right the yankees came out smelling like a fucking rose. All the other owners bitch about them and than hand em this shit. THe owners need to boycott trading with the yankees the same time the fans boycott all sports. Hell they should boycott the non sports like hockey and racing while they're at it

baseball is a very close metaphor for our societies worst flaws and the problems will HAVE to be addressed to make the game realistic in a competitive sense...although the d-backs, angels, and now the marlins have proven that low-rent teams can put it together...salary cap the damn thing already!!...and put a serious pulling back on thr reins of the players union....fucking nazis...anyway, i think baseball is one of the greatest things in the world and am full addicted...hell, it sure wil be fun watching the yanks hit...lofton, jeter, giambi, posada, a-rod, sheffield, fucking OUCH!!!....but pitching is the key...kevin brown is a gamer, but is injury prone...we'll see...that's why we play the games...fuck all of y'all... (especially the "gotta-be-pissed-off-something-fierce red sox fans")...i say GO STROS, fuck the cubbies AND the yankees AND the bosox (btw...pedro/schilling will be a force...yall still got d-lowe???)....but i'll take...ahem...roger clemens (boo-fuckin hoo yanks!!...thanks for the parting gifts george)...andy pettite...roy oswalt....wade miller...and then most likely tim redding...that's at least 60 wins from those guys when it is said and done...jeff kent, berkman (sofhmore slump is over), richard hidalgo, bags (he of the terrible throwing arm but rediculously skilled in EVERY other aspect of the game), biggio...also dotel can close baby!!!...watch him have wagner numbers...sounds like the makings of a playoff run with good health...the cubs wqill be good and phillie will be strong, but we've got a good chance...GO STROS BITCHES!!!!

strohs will be fun to watch this year. i have full respect for rocket's playing ability and that's about it. yeah sox rotation is shilling, pedro, lowe, wakefield, b kim. i'd put that top 5 against anyone, even though b kim will get munched the f up in the bronx. but not a bad #5...

The key is to make the playoffs and than anything can happen. Look at the braves. For years they had the best pitching but lost in post season. Now last year they had a kick ass offense and lost again. A dominating pitching staff will beat the yanks in a 5 or 7 game series. I guarantee the yanks will buy a couple more good pitchers b4 the year is out. Braves made a mistake by not having Smoltz as a starter in the playoffs. He is the only overpowering pitcher they have and is the only good postseason pitcher they have had. Glavine and Maddux were too dependent on what the umpires strike zone was. Tight zone =asskicking. Even smoltz said starting isn't as hard on his elbow b/c he gets more rest in b/n outings instead of throwing balls to the wall for 3-4 days in a row. Fuck the yankees
