After making world record for totals in the 220lb class

Anyhow good luck on your upcoming meet bro.

You got this, the rest of the week is deloading some for the meet correct. I'm sure that will only give you more strength come meet day.

Thanks jymis. Yes this was my last max day. A little accessory work tomorrow just to blow off some steam, I will work up to my 360 opener on Wednesday and to around 300 on Thursday and that's it.

Dan Green is a bad ass. My favorite powerlifter not just because he is a beast but also because even when he is breaking a world record there is no jumping around and yelling and screaming. He acts more like I'm the strongest mother fucker pound for pound on the planet this is what is SUPPOSED to happen.

I normally work up to my bench opener three days out when I run the Bulgarian method but I had an issue with my left bicep tendon, which was fully torn and surgically repaired 23 months ago, following Monday's grinding paused PR at 395.

Broz advocates w/u to 60-70% three days out, w/u opener two days out and w/u 70% one day out. Because of the bicep issue I went with Broz plan this week working up to 260 on Wednesday, my 360 opener yesterday and 280 today.

360 didn't feel that fast but on video it looks fine. I was more concerned with seeing how the bicep would hold up and no issues there.

Made weight on the dot at 198.2 this morning, no diuretics but I did have the heater on full blast for the 90 minute drive to the weigh in to lose the last couple of pounds.

Here is yesterday's 360 opener.

The meet went well I went 5 for 6 and PR'd on both lifts. For safety reasons I'm not going to list exactly what I hit but I will say that my only miss was on my third bench attempt at 400 or a little above and it went straight up. White light from the head judge but red lighted by both sides judges for my butt popping off the bench when I pushed it off my chest. Judge told me it only came up about an inch and you brought it right back down but there was definitely air between your butt and the bench so I had to red light it.

Deads were all strong and had several guys tell me after my last attempt that I was good for 20 or 30 more pounds.

Didn't feel the bicep issue at all during the meet but had some pain and a little swelling and bruising around the elbow last night. Took some Advil, no pain or swelling this morning just some slight bruising. Bicep tendon definitely isn't fully torn but I'm going to need to baby it for a while so I don't fully tear it.

Thanks for the encouragement along the way guys I appreciate it. I thought this log went pretty well and was a good way for me to keep track of everything without having to write it all down so I plan on doing another log leading up to my next meet which will be before the end of this year if all goes well but I haven't decided exactly when yet.

Congrats, MP! I'm glad to hear that the meet went well. I certainly enjoyed reading your progress leading up to it.

And definitely start another log leading up to your next meet when the time comes.

Thanks guys I appreciate all of the support. One more thought regarding yesterday, it reaffirms why powerlifting isn't and will never be a spectator sport. Meet began at 9am and lifting finished a few minutes before 6pm. Even the wives and girlfriends in the crowd were weary by that point.

I'm glad someone posted a pic of Dan Green. I youtubed him and came across so tutorials to help you bench press correctly.

Watching these vids got me to 425 lbs on the flat bench last week. Going to shoot for 450 lbs next week or so.....and hopefully over 500 lbs by this time next year.

Congrats on your meet @Masters Power Power
