No connection between LDL levels and heart disease

A new review of published research from an international group of physicians and researchers is challenging the half-century long belief that LDL, the so-called 'bad kind' of cholesterol, causes heart disease.

This is nothing new as an elevated LDL and Obesity are often mutually inclusive.

But patients REFUSE to lose weight and want a simple means to modify CV risk ====== A PILL !

Pity few read the STATIN package insert bc it clearly states these drugs should be reserved for those who "FAIL" dietary and weight reduction efforts, which IME is about 99%.

Lets put it this way, since recent evidence has shown at least 50% of Americas adult population are OBESE and 25% are Morbidly Obese, we have become a country of GLUTTONY.

The 93yo woman my wife took care of was a former professional dancer so she was always healthy/thin. As you stated above that makes a BIG difference in CV health.

The FDA backed off the connection between dietary and blood cholesterol a couple years ago. There just wasn’t much data connecting the two.

Hopefully this will have an effect on PED forum and people will stop thinking they re in the green because "ldl is fine"

I read the article, LOTS of holes. Deciphiring medical studies is very hard work

Of course DIET is not the only issue but rather the connection bt excessive caloric intake that results in obesity
followed by a sedentary lifestyle all of which increase CV risk.

And those who become entrapped in that vicious circle choose A PILL, or SEVERAL PILLS, over a risk modifying lifestyle.

Want more evidence DIET MATTERS, check out the correlation
bt Obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and the
drastitically increased incidence of DM in this country.

I’ll summarize briefly

Does a diet high in cholesterol per se
increase the risk of ASCVD - NO!

Does a diet high in saturated fats or transfats increase the risk of ASCVD -
ABSOLUTELY!

SO the cholesterol dietary connection
has more to do with a high fat diet than
cholesterol.

Are high total cholesterol or elevated LDL levels associated with increased ASCVD risk —- ABSOLUTELY

What does all this mean a HIGH FAT diet
is BAD for anyone WHEN combined with HIGH CARBS.

And this is the type of JUNK FOOD diet many AMERICANS have embraced in excess eventhough it’s the leading cause of obesity, metabolic syndrome, DM, ASCVD and a variety of other ailments.

So simplified; in the JUNK FOOD diet sugar exceeds metabolic demands resulting in insulin insensitivity while fats AND cholesterol are allowed to float around and stick to arteries
