@smashfit or anyone thats used these or knows of these I need some info. I've never used bumper plates but I can get these cheap from a guy that i went to high school with. Can I do everything I need to do with them or no ?

The only reason Im thinking about getting them is because I can get an awesome deal on them and they would be nice to have for power cleans and dead lifts.Plus they look bad ass but I feel like they are to thick to get 500 lbs on the bar, am I wrong? Is it practical to use these on the bar for bench, shoulder press, etc?

Lol walking through the mall with a tank on. I can say I have gotten my kicks like that recently.

Ahh, The alpha male feeling. Or the little comments or looks you get from your buddies girl when your shirts off. Or when you're all drunk and you're giving one of them a piggy back ride and they use that opportunity to feel up your chest a little etc.

I of course would never act on it, but just something about that is so rewarding! God we are really just a buncha egomaniacs huh.

I refuse to ever deadlift with anything but bumper plates again. It's so much better. That being said I would say you really only need two of them. They usually have a slightly bigger circumference, so when you load one on each side you can just slide on the rest of the plates with ease without having to lift the bar up etc.

I'm assuming they are a little pricier? So I would think just getting two would be good to go.

Actually I can get a steal of a deal. I can get them for 1.10 a lb if I buy 400lbs. That 400 lbs for 440 bucks. That's cheap but I will only get them if I can use them on EVERYTHING and I just think it would be to much volume on the bar for as thick as they are for like bench and shoulder press.i don't know though. I'm looking for answers. Can't make a 440.00 mistake

Get 8 25lbs and 4 of the 50lb plates..those should be enough and you can then add standard plates to the bar to get the weight you desire.

When I go to get my new set up im just going to get 2 bumper plates an load the metal ones right up behind them. @OdieM that is a steal though for that price bro. Is that for the whole bundle of them or can you just grab a few?

He mentioned above 1.10/lb if he bought 400lbs. Will be more if less than 400lbs. 2 50lbs plates sounds ideal for using for deads.

He said if I take 400 lbs it's 1.10 a lb. if I take less it's 1.60 lb. I looked what they sell for brand new and it's still a dollar cheaper then buying them new. Idk, probably just get the cast iron ones. Found a deal on them at academy

Why not just get 2 50lb plates for 160? All you would need for deads as it will then be easier to slide on regular plates.

Time to start thinking of longevity odie. Your lower back is the worst possible injury to sustain. Once you have it it'll plague you. I sacrificed my ego and stopped doing deads. Thank god I can still perform good leg work otherwise I could kiss this dream of mine good bye. Deads SUCK!!!
As much as i can relate to the pain of a lower back injury...(Mine being none workout related) I love deadlifts. My lower back used to cause problems daily and i was always standoffish of the deadlift because of it. I have regularly done them now though for about two years and my back feels amazing all the time. I started low and increased weight slowly and i think that is the key with a lift that is easy to wreck yourself with when u already have problems. This was just my experience with the lift anyway and i am not saying you should be doing them with your problems. Deadlifts have become my favorite lift.

I got you, well it's tough to say. I have seen bumpers in all kinds of thickness. I would go to their site and see exactly how thick rogues are (they have different models of bumpers too) and then measure out how long the ends of your barbell is. Only way way to be sure really.
