Official bug thread for new MESO forum

I'm guessing it will be one of the forums running vb 3.x/4.x + vbseo. Many of us became highly dependent on vbseo to optimize our sites for search. But the company behind it went defunct and there was no longer any support. Having such a crucial plugin that is unsupported is dangerous. It's the situation we were in. If it "breaks" then you would be SOL. And I couldn't see upgrading to vb 4.x or vb 5.x as a viable option.

Actually dragonbyte has a much better product for SEO called DBSEO - http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/product/303-dragonbyte-seo/

That said both of these product pound server resources and are predominantly based on structuring URL's which doesn't work anymore and custom coding in your own SEO adjustments is key. Example.... try googling "bodybuilding forum" UGBB doesn't use either of these mods.

I considered replacing VBSEO with DBSEO but I really wanted to upgrade to a faster, cleaner app. VB 4.x and 5.x were not options for me. Speed was the biggest factor and that led me to XF.

So far mobile version everything is working fine for me . Big improvement overall
I'm happy to hear it! A surprisingly large number of MESO visitors access the forum via mobile device. So, the mobile functionality was a big criteria in deciding on new app/template.

If importing the old "likes" becomes a problem, the like-to-post requirement for changing signatures will be a problem as well. With 3 likes and 1000 posts, I'll never be able to change it!

The like/post requirement has been disabled. It's an anti-spam feature to prevent newbie spammers from posting URLs. But it's not working for us here.

I'm not sure. Maybe it's my inability to figure out the system, but I don't see an option to edit posts.

Edit: Yes, sir, I now see an option to edit/delete posts after entering them. Though, it doesn't seem retroactive. Thank you.
There is only a 15 minute window before edit/delete option disappears.

Okay was the site just down for like 8 hours or was that just me?
No, it was me. I've been trying to get some important data imported from the old site (vbseo "likes" and also "social groups") and I kinda fucked up the database. It's been restored from a back up. This took about 2 hours to figure out what was going on and 6 hours to restore the site from the backup. We lost a little bit of data -- between the time of the db crash and the time of the previous database backup -- so please point this out to everyone who notices and is concerned.

Please accept my sincerest apologies. I promise I won't mess with the database any more. I will continue to work on improvements in the styling/template system and the functionality of the software, but that's it.

No need to apologize, I think everyone here knows that you have the communities best interest in mind and trust you completely. Thanks for everything and all the work you are putting into this!

Thank you. I really appreciate the understanding and support. But the apology is necessary because you all contribute a lot to the forum and any lost contributions and/or disruptions in the service aren't fair to you guys. I promise to the best of my ability and foresight that the downtime and discontinuity are a thing of the past! Post away and enjoy. :)

Damn... the smartest thing I ever said online has been lost in this transition :)
