Google still hasn't indexed all the new forum links.I've been trying to log in (https://thinksteroids.com/community all evening and getting this message:
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
I finally did a Google search for Uncle Z and got in to the site off that link. (Z was finally good for something! )
Another reason I put off switching forums is that the several 100,000s links indexed by Google would be lost. This is because when you switch software, in most cases, it means a change in URL structure. That's why there are some tricks called URL rewrite rules that redirect all the old links to the new links.
URL rewrite rules are a pain in the ass. Not only do we have to redirect all the vb links to the corresponding xf links, we have to redirect all old links from previous domains -- like mesomorphosis.com -- and . This is so that we preserve our "Google juice" by keeping all the referral links that we've accumulated from the past 15+ years and sending them to the new URL structure. Furthermore, since we are trying to force HTTPS from HTTP, it is even more complicated. We still have some work to do. But we're close to having it down
