Old (47) man Intensity and Recovery cycle planning (BJJ focus)

Jesus Christ man, did you check his total t? He’s at 614 Ng/dl NATTY at age 47. He has ZERO reason to start trt, and frankly he shouldn’t be fucking with his hormones at this point at all, considering how lucky he is to be at that range at his age.
Zero need but that's not what he's asking. Half of that stack would be more beneficial to anabolism and recovery than his natural production. Whether he wants to commit to doing something like that long term is a different question and decision. And it is a decision. You saying he "shouldn't" is an opinion and decision you'd make in his shoes and that's cool. But his decision might be different.

I also do bjj and strength training. In my opinion you need something different than you described ...

And to be honest, at your age, I wouldn't do PCT, but I would do TRT

Sorry i missed this.

Thanks for the advise, but those are too many compounds at once, i want to start as low and simple as possible.

TRT is out of the question, until its really needed ;)

If you are going to go for it, I would reccomend you experiment with testosterone only.

Yes, this is how i want to proceed. Start simple, and as low as possible to get most of the benefits with minimal damage.

I forgot one detail: i did two simple Ostarine cycles, one in 2020 and other in 2021, a simple 8 weeks 12.5mg Ostarine to help maintaining muscle mass on a cutting diet.

Results were very good, which lead to research of the real thing.
I actually bought two boxes of Anavar, but with further research i decided to avoid orals, and go with the the real thing, which lead me here.

Maybe I’m off base here, but you mention frustration with not being able to improve in various areas despite 5x bjj and 2x full body workouts per week, have you ever considered you may be overtraining? Recovery is essential in muscle building.
Yes, you are 100% correct!
Moreover, i started as a puny 55kg young man, so i would say i'm almost at the maximum of my growth potential, being moderately lean at 80Kgs (13/14%).

Also, I’ve not personally been able to build much muscle during periods of doing bjj 4x a week because it is such an intense aerobic activity. Hard to gain weight/put on muscle when you’re burning 1000 calories a day pajama wrestling. In periods when I have wanted to focus on muscle building, I have laid off the bjj. All I’m trying to get at in this thought is that you may have goals which are in conflict.
Yes, once again you are 100% correct!

That's where i think anabolics will help, even using a very conservative's dosage (200-300mg Test Prop per week).

Best of luck to you in whatever you choose to do, my man.
Much appreciated, its good to have feedback for more experience and wise users!

Keep us updated on how things turn out for you. Rooting for you to have a good experience, and to get what you want out of what you choose to do, regardless of what that choice is.

…Although if I were you, I would remain natty ;)

Good luck!

Quick update.

I'm now on the third week of a simple 10 weeks, 70mg Test prop EOD.

Results so far have been according to expectations:
- Higher work capacity
- Slight re-composition, slight increase on muscle mass with a small decrease in body fat.

In this third week, i've noticed that i'm able to sustain a higher work capacity in the BJJ training, fatigue is still there, but i'm being able to sustain maximum intensity in all rounds.

I'm limiting strength training to 1 day a week, and adding push-ups and pull-ups after BJJ sessions, the goal is to increase muscle resistance.

Aesthetically, i'm trying to loose my love handles, which at around 1.73m/83kgs/13-14%BF, even small, are the most visible fat deposits.

Nevertheless, given the focus is performance, i can't cut carbs around training, so i'm restricting carbs for PRE/During/POST training:
- Pre: 100gr raw oats powder + 25gr protein
- During: 30gr waxy maize starch (Vitargo cheap alternative)

Basically nutrition is around Protein (200gr daily: meat, fish, eggs, Casein, Pea Protein, milk) + greens (500gr to 1kg daily: broccoli, cabbage, etc) + good fats (50gr daily: olive oil + avocado) + 2 pieces of fruit.

Training 6 days a week:
- 5 BJJ sessions (with pull-ups + pushups + stretching after)
- 1 day with 2 training sessions: 1 full body workout + 1h cycling around 140/150 bpm.

Feeling a bit tired during the day, but amazing after the training sessions.
So far so good ...
