Just curious, long time ago in one of the Men's Health Magazine notice different types of push-ups for working the Chest and Shoulders, doing ole fashion push-ups/super sets/max reps. Any advise on this type of Exercising method with using Push-ups. Chis

I havent done pushups since about 10th grade and have no intentions of breaking that streak.

Also, any information that follows "in Mens Health..." is skipped anyway.

I've always liked pushups..and in fact i use them from time to time for GPP

I could sorta see them as rehab, but not as any part of a real program, whether it be strength or mass.

Very true Mr. Smith.. Pushups are not generally known for being big mass builders for people (Hershel Walker excluded)

I only use them for GPP on days when I can't do sled work.

I need to have someone make me a sled. I figure it'll give my 75 year old neighbors something to watch a few times a week.

BTW, I'll be finishing up the 3rd book tonight or tomorrow. Im addicted!

Lol.. those are great books! I think they are very creative in their writing.. They outline a very possible conclusion for the end IMO.

Get this...I was at Barnes and Noble last week buying the 2nd book. I grab the book, turn around and start to walk around. A woman asks what book I was reading. We chat for a minute and then says "I have the whole set at home and you can have it if youd like." So cool! She gave me her name and it was someone I had met during my insurance days about 3 months ago. She had 10 of the 11 current books, almost all in hardcover. And unbeknownst to me until I got home, she also signed and threw in a book by Frank Peretti!

Simply amazed!

Now Ive got Julie reading the series, too. ;)

Hop on IM, dude. Its easier to chat.

Awesome news about the books.. it's funny how things like that work out when you're a little low on funds....

I'm going to stay off AIM tonight.. I'm tired.. and I know if we get to talking I'll be on here all night.. at this point I'm pretty much just ready to go to bed.. Give me a call tomorrow and we'll b.s. a little.

Later bro,

Phreezer

No prob! I can go finish off my book, I think Ive got about 75 pages to go.

Not sure what my plans are for tomorrow, but Ill ring ya up sometime.

Push ups are for girls and the marines. Ever seen a big girl or marine? Case closed.
Grizz, you must have something againest marines, look at it this way those pussy push-ups you say are for girls well think of the freedom you have and you can thank the marines for doing there girlie push-ups, we do them for motovation, dedication, those push-ups have been around since the marine corps came alive in 1775. I dont think there was the envetion of weights at that time, I can see if you flamed a high school or something. but come on bro, the military is what helps give you your freedom. so when your sitting on your sofa watching your TV and you see the news and it tells about Marines or Army taking fire think of the all the hard earned girlie push-ups those men have done to help keep them alive.

Ehh, Marines are just the wanna-bes. The real men go to special forces like Rangers, Seals, Delta. ;)

Grizz, to support what jarhea...I mean, Rambo said, I read a book by Eric Haney, one of the original members of Delta Force (if it really exists). He mentioned that during his 15 years or so there, he only saw one other member who you would consider to be jacked. The rest were more endurance sized guys, maybe 180-210 pounds.

I actually finish off a hard chest day with several sets of diamond push ups just to exhaust the muscles and get them full of blood...... However, by themselves is pretty much a waste of time if you are trying to get big.

Rambo, don't worry I have nothing against marines. I could just as well have said the army. To more specific, I probably should have said "people in the armed forces" but that would take too long and be no fun.

But I am going to disagree with your rhetoric. Aside from the small potential that the Axis powers could have taken over the whole world, our freedoms have never been in jeopardy. The only things our armed forces had done is force our freedoms on other people.

You could make the argument that, because of the marines, people will not attack us and this protects our freedoms. However, they haven't been fired at in 60 years in the name of protecting our freedoms. That's just rhetoric.

Bob- I know they're the endurance type. It makes more sense to be that way. But, it still remains that pushups will not make you big.

Hey bro, I guess your the World #1 LEADER? I see your not the well verse traveling one, from experience traveling abroad of leisure and work. I've seen the Wealthy Shieks in MidEast, and the dirt poor people of Africa, and I can tell you we all have our opinions but one that stands out amounst the rest is being and AMERICAN, able to voice our likes and dislikes without being arrested/persecuted by their Governments, nice huh.

Freedom has a price if you didn't know, right now it's the many Deaths the Soldiers/Sailors/Airman/and Marines are facing in our every changing ARAB World, but your right our freedom is just a mere word spoken amounst ourselves here on this thread. Just remember when you sleep sound tonight, in some off foreign land our fellow American's are sharing their fighting hole ,not knowing when his last breath will be.
Have a nice AMERICAN day, go in peace!

Enough said, have a safe and peaceful life CUB, lets get back to the topic of this thread.

No prob griz and bob smith the Marines Force Recon is the best out there! I was recon for 6 years, I guess if ones never served they will never know and all they can do is cut down those who earn the blood and guts and a hole lot of glory.
