I speak on this in the Koncrete video with which this thread was opened. You are propagating the concept that I, or all business owners, are motivated purely by money, or greed. Of course, everyone needs money in modern society to survive, so that has to be factored in to business. However, It is facile to think that a biochemical reaction as complicated as motivation and ambition can be wrapped up in such a simple explanation as greed. That is just a facile statement that many people use to explain a very complicated dopaminergic reaction. Greed is not an accurate depiction of what drives a business owner on, what makes him wake up excited every morning to grow this entity that he created, to help the clients who respect and admire the business owner for said help. Dopamine, which is the neurotransmitter that conveys motivational salience, is the neurotransmitter that responsible for drive, ambition, and passion. Humans evolved to elicit a DOSE (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins) response every time we do something to ensure our own survival, or the survival of our species (Sex, eating; these are obvious major DOSE eliciting actions) as a reward pathway. We are supposed to be addicted to these neirotransmitters that reward us for performing an action that ensures our survival. We evolved to be social creatures, because we survive better when we help eachother. Therefore, helping people is one of the strongest DOSE eliciting actions. Creating value for others causes people to respect, admire, and appreciate you, which causes a massive DOSE response. When we create value for as many people as possible, in the most meaningful way; when we have created something bigger than ourselves, that people depend on,that make a massive audience show us respect, admiration, and appreciation - that elicits dopamine which drives motivation and impetus to continue helping people and providing. To quit helping is to fail all those loyal people who depend on you; to quit helping is to fail this entity you created that is now bigger than you, and your business has become your baby that you need to nurture. That is addicting. That is ambition. That is passion. That is not greed. That is not about money. That is about the innate desire to help others. That is what drives most business owners on... It isn't greed.
