Passed out during injection!

One of my buds(newbie, 1st inj) came by last night so I could make sure he's using the proper injection technique. When he aspirated, there was some blood, so he changed the needle and moved the inj site over a little. He says, "Hey, I'm feeling a little dizzy...can you inject it for me?" Next thing I know, the needle's coming out b/c he's falling forward passed out! My other buddy caught him safely and laid him down. He laid there unresponsive for a good 5 seconds! We were scared as hell! His eyes had rolled back, face was colorless, and breathing was minimal. All of a sudden, he popped up wondering WTF was going on. Needless to say, we didn't finish the injection! Do you guys think it was from hitting the vein the first time, or was it just his nerves?

Alot of people pass out, It was either nerves or seeing blood or both.
Everybody hit's viens or goes through them once in a while.

Most likely it was strictly his nerves getting the best of him. Thats why breathing is one of the steps to a proper injection. I know a few guys this happened to and same thing- popped up a few seconds later clueless.

Holy crap, I've never heard of that happening before. I've hit veins several times. I've even gone through a vein, and had the blood squirt out and run down my leg...no big deal though.

I'm wondering if maybe he was holding his breath (involuntarily) during the injection. I've found myself doing that a few times because of having to twist the body around to do the glutes. I doubt it's from hitting the vein though.

I've never had a fear of needles either had several times had blood running down the leg . never had a quirter though lol

One of the funniest things about it all was that he was ragging the other guy for having me inject for him the first time! He kept saying, "Man, you're a pussy! I'm not afraid....I'll do it myself!" I wonder if he'll want to continue his cycle!?
