Never call the police...

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/01/woman-shot-and-killed-when-iowa-police-officer-tries-to-shoot-her-german-shepherd/

A 34-year-old woman in Burlington, Iowa was shot and killed on Tuesday by an officer who was allegedly aiming for her dog during an argument, the Burlington Hawk Eye reported.

The officer, http://www.thehawkeye.com/story/Cop-identified-breaking-news-010715 as Jesse Hill, shot Autumn Mae Steele in front of her husband and 4-year-old son. Steele had been arrested a day earlier on domestic abuse charges, and Hill was there to escort her as she retrieved items from her home after being released from jail on Tuesday morning.

Steele and her husband reportedly began arguing as she was putting the boy into her car. Hill was allegedly trying to break up the dispute when the couple’s German Shepherd approached him.

“The dog startled the officer. The officer began shooting at the dog,” one witness told the Hawk Eye. “The officer was still shooting when he fell down in the snow.”

Steele was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead from a gunshot to the chest.

The Associated Press reported that the state’s Department of Criminal Investigation is still interviewing witnesses in connection with the incident.

I had to look up this, here's Jesse Hill:
Iowa cop trying to shoot attacking dog kills mom

Sure enough, a black cop, which I point out not because I dislike black people, but because from living in numerous states in the US, and having owned several dogs, still do, I know that black people are inordinately afraid of dogs.

Among Asians, Hispanics, whites etc just the occasional dog phobic person, but among blacks it's the exception that is not afraid of dogs. In my experience.

My college educated black friends who come over have no problems with dogs, but contractors, UPS, FedEx, mailman etc, man oh man they are afraid. Maybe a socioeconomic issue more than race, but it's a stereotype that definitely is quite prevalent in reality.

Seems like cops need some animal awareness training. Probably black cops more so than others. And all cops need "living being" awareness training. Crazy trigger happy, what happened to retreat and evaluate? Now they just shoot first.

A bit of a digression, and no "you're racist" flames please.

I would be in jail for assault if they tried to do this to my little girl. Fucking pedophiles.

I don't even want to watch that clip - dealing with TSA can be quite a blood boiling exercise. The losers in society finally able to get even with their social betters - to put it in strong terms. Many of them really enjoy their power trip.

Those of us who experience flying before all this security nonsense know what I mean - really, what was so bad about flying in the 70s? I think far less harm would be done if CCW folks could carry on the plane, and if the TSA fired all idiots, and hired bright people who applied a highly selective El Al (Israeli) style approach to scrutinizing passengers instead of hassling all of us.

That'll be the day though - entrenched bureaucracies rarely give up power.

I got arrested about 9 months after my last deployment. I lucked out and my Medical Board process for getting out the army only took about 4 months.
when I was being booked I was so angry, and all I could think about was how fat and lazy these cops were, and how easy it would have been to clean shop in there. They took my cuffs off and let me stand against the wall.
All of them had their backs towards me, ones hands were full with paperwork, the other two were lazily sitting in computer chairs.
Plus while I was being arrested they broke my KIA (Killed In Action) memory band, so needless to say I was pretty fucking pissed off.
I was being arrested for a suspended license. And they didn't tell me that until I got to jail, which is why I was being less than friendly with them.

I know there are good cops out there, but it's hard to respect them when all that I've seen are fay pieces of shit who think that their badge will protect them.

If cops spent more time preventing San Bernardino shootings, and less time destroying American citizens lives, I would respect them.
My dogs are the bread and butter of my life, and have prevented me from doing a lot of dumb things since I became a civilian.
If anyone, LEO or otherwise, killed one of my dogs, I would not hesitate to end their life, their families lives, their next of kin, the last person they talked to, and anyone around them.

Funny, even before reading it I knew the unions wouldn't go along, sure enough, just like the teacher's unions, the police union can't stand being measured.

Ban all public employee unions. They should express themselves at the polls, like the rest of us.
I was in a teacher Union. Probably the strongest one. When push came to shove they did absolutely nothing for me.

They might not do anything for you as an individual, but they will fuck up the system as best they can - and rest assured they will fight tooth and nail against any objective standards.

I have a simpler algorithm based only on the number of cops present and whether they believe they are being recorded. In effect, if there are enough cops present to kick your ass, and no one is watching, be very afraid.

Run. Run fast, carry a gun on you.

I still get emails from them. I want to save them all and reply to every single one of them at once: "thank you for telling me who you lobby for over the last few years, I've forwarded them to all of my friends and we've been voting against every one of your people. Keep em coming!"

Supreme Court: Cops can’t hold suspects to wait for drug-sniffing dog [Rodriguez v. United States] http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/13-9972_p8k0.pdf

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Tuesday that the Constitution forbids police from holding a suspect without probable cause, even for fewer than 10 extra minutes.

Writing on behalf of the court, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg declared that the constitutional protections against unreasonable search and seizure prevent police from extending an otherwise completed traffic stop to allow for a drug-sniffing dog to arrive.

“We hold that a police stop exceeding the time needed to handle the matter for which the stop was made violates the Constitution’s shield against unreasonable seizures,” she ruled.

How The NYPD Abused Citizens In The Name Of Data, And How One Cop Exposed It

Exposing police misconduct can be risky, even for a cop.

“Crime By The Numbers,” a short documentary directed by Don Argott for FiveThirtyEight and ESPN Films’ Signals series, tells the story of Adrian Schoolcraft. Schoolcraft, as a New York Police Department officer, blew the whistle on the NYPD’s abuse and misuse of CompStat, a system to track crime trends in New York City.

But in trying to fix the injustices of New York’s policing system, Schoolcraft experienced that injustice personally.

It is politically correct to search everyone. She doesn't look like a terrorist to me. In a situation like this, I'm all for profiling.

Dude that chick is a Grade A cunt. Just answer the questions. It's CHILDISH. They pulled her over for a traffic violation. What violation? We don't know. People need to be adults and stop hating on cops before they even do anything.

The questions they asked are specifically intended to elicit an admission of guilt. She was right to not answer their questions. One answer will always lead to more questions. EVERYTHING you say can (selectively) be used against you, and cops write that shit down on the back of their copy of the ticket.

Cop pulls you over and asks, "do you know why you were pulled over?" You respond with, "No I do not". It's really pretty easy to not be a giant dick bag.
