Prostate - PSA - BPH Question

52 year old male here.
My PSA is consistently in the .40 range, which I know is great.
On my last blood test it was .80
I realize this is well within normal, but my concern is the sudden jump as I was reading the change can be more significant then the actual number itself.
I do have frequent urination and have for the 10 years. If I drink a 16 oz water, I will have to pee 2 or 3 times with the hour. I don't get up during the night, unless I drink fluid before bed.
My urologist felt my prostate last year and said it was not enlarged, but he also said you could still have the symptoms of BPH without enlargement on examination (this I don't understand at all)
Anyway I would love some opinions.
Perhaps a daily Cialis is in order ?:)

Sometimes the prostate initially grows inward and starts to constrict the urethra. Most of the time it grows outward and inward. I would go to the Uro one more time and have him check again. It could have grown in a year. I would definitely do the PSA again just to ensure the number is accurate.
Aside from waking up to urinate, a good indication of prostate issues is the strength of the urine stream.
1) do you notice your stream is weaker? Maybe a split stream or just less forceful?
2) after you finish urinating, do you still feel there may be just a tad more urine that wont come out and you find yourself standing at the toilet for 5 minutes?
3) after urination, do you have to go agin in 10-15 minutes sometimes?
4) are you using testosterone? What dose and for how long?
4) finally, when was your last psa taken that was only a .4 ?
On the .8 level, did you ejaculate prior to the test?

Its been getting slowly weaker over the last 10 years, but nothing major or drastic.

not 5 minutes, but always a little dribbling at the end.

No, not that soon, unless I drank a lot of fluid

4) are you using testosterone? What dose and for how long?
80mg weekly IM for 5 years

Last PSA was .8, prior ones were always .4

Dont remember

Im almost the same age as you and mine is only slightly enlarged but a normal size for my age. I still have some issues though.
1) are you splitting the T dose in 2? 40 mgs twice per week?
2) what are your levels 2 days after a 40 mg injection?
3) any hair issues at that dose?

40mg 2x a week
750 total T
Only hair issue an increase in abdominal hair.

So 2 days after your injection and just before your next, total T is 750.
No thinning on top of your head?
You ever try 30 or 35 mgs?

I shave my head, lol. Im 52, my hai has been getting thin since I turned 40.

80mg a week seems fine. I feel ok. I wouldn't lower the dose unless Hct or E2 became a problem.

Just got the results from my last PSA one week ago and doc said .9
He wasn't concerned but I am, as its gone from .4 to .8 and now to .9 in 8 months time

BPH ain't that bad
many old people cope with it, at worst some urination delays

while androgens may promote BPH
now watch your estrogen as it can cause prostate CANCER
