Hi all,

I am always trying to play with my offseason mass gaining diet. Most recently I used 500g protein, about 300g carbs (most timed pre and post workout) and didn't really track the fats too much. I had a fair bit as I eat a lot of peanut butter, coconut oil, red meat etc.

What has worked for you, on cycle? I would like to avoid too much fat gain, as that's why I normally cycle or time the carbs. Please all chime in when or if you can!

Don't be sad if I forgot to tag you, I'm tired :D ! I'm looking to hear from a variety of lifters!

fat gain is just part of the cost to be the boss man.
I always keep my carbs fairly high compared to lots of guys because of my workouts but i dont mind a lil pudge in the winter. Eat big lift big trim it up in come april-may

I know, I managed to keep it fairly low last year until I improperly used insulin with fats... Well, that just is a mainline of fat straight into your body I found out the hard way.... Roughly what are your macros?

Bulking for me is easy. Too easy. I don't count all my macros. I'm most interested in
1 protein
2 calories
3 fiber
In that order. I count carb meals like. A dish for lunch. Dish for supper and just go like that. On a cut its simple, remove carbs except 1 maybe for lunch. On a bulk it's whatever I feel like

In all honesty the biggest problem I have is over feeding. I can't stop and the scale reflects it. Several times I had to pull in the reigns for damage control. I'm pretty content with 400g pro.

shit this winter I was straight up open feeding...carbs I tried to keep fairly clean and limit in the evenings but balls to the wall gorge myself. Ton of almonds, avocados, etc..

for cutting now Im running kinda modified "paleo" with high fat and lower carbs than usual for me, almost all sweet potatoes, oatmeal, and green veg. No grains or pasta this go. Im pretty lax with actual macros but Id figure something like 40/20/40 but I may add additional carbs on days I have heavy manual labor in addition to my scheduled workout

Yeah, I sort of suck at counting the fats. I try to focus on protein and calories, just like you the most. I get enough fiber, so carbs are #3 for me. I am just worried I'll get too soft like last year, but I think I know it was the insulin.

Gonna go back to reading the gear goddess thread, pretty good read for the morning :)

I always count fats.. A lot of people get lax when counting fat when they have the most cals. During a bulk I keep my fat almost the exact same but sky rocket carbs. Maybe 30g more fat or so but I like to keep carbs 3-4c bw during bulk

fats are my snacks...pre-portion almonds or a ripe avocado. I also like to throw pine nuts, toasted almonds etc in salads, green beans etc

If insulin is responsible for being "soft" I must be a natural bottle of fucking humalog.
