Recovery. And life after surgery.

Recently had my C4 C5 C C7 vertebrae surgically repaired. I'm one day home now. Procedure was done 4 days ago.

The procedure was interesting. They put a 3 inch incision by my Adams apple and cleaned it all up pretty nice. At first, they were planning on removing one of my vertebrae because I had one of my discs lodged into my spinal chord. "Training with intensity can have its down falls too"
Somehow while doing an overhead press with dumbbells, my disc shot out my vertebrae. Anyway, upon awakening from surgery, the doc was happy to let me know he was able to save my vertebrae. I do however have fabricated discs in my vertebrae now, held together with nuts and bolts.

I'm noticing lots of discomfort in my delts and upper extremities. The surgeon said I have the toughest neck he's ever cut thru.

Any seasoned athletes wanna chime in with advice for training, recovery, pt, supplementing etc etc would be greatly appreciated. received_10207558629553476.jpeg

Good to hear it went well and that you're home in one piece Tank.
Very impressed with the whole process. Unfortunately the part where I sit around and heal for 3 months before I can even consider resistance training is gonna chap my ass. Trust and believe I'll be on meso, just waiting to get back in there. A brother of mine here at meso has blessed me with a plethora of get big meds. I'm feeling optimistic.

Thank good the breakfast was covering your junk.....

Many people have stated tb500 has helped the recovery process.

Welcome home and rest man.

Welcome home Tank, time to heal. It will take a lot of willpower to take things slow and getting back under the iron will take some hard work. I am sure you might no longer be able to do certain exercises that put a lot of stress on the back such as squats and deads.

Hang in there!

Congrats tank. You will be back crushing it. This I know for a fact!
You'll be back sooner than you think, ppl like you dont stay down and out, you're tougher than just ur neck
Doing the surgery was alot easier then healing and recovery. These months down are gonna suck Cox n dix. I gotta figure out what to do next. I guess I'm not supposed to do anything other then rest. I'm just gonna follow you guys. I'm optimistic. At first the surgeon told me I may never lift again. Now I'm being told that if I do this rite, I can be back under light weights in 3-6 months! I just gotta be patient.

Glad to see the surgery went well brother. Just remember recovery is a marathon and not a sprint. I'm sure you'll be back to training in no time!

It took me 4 years to return to the gym after sustaining serious head and internal injury in a 3-story fall so I can relate to that. Despite some limitations I have I still soldier on!

I am sure Tank can do it right and all the power to him to reach his goal :)

Sitting out sucks. But sitting out 2-3 times longer than you need to would suck worse.

So dont force it. I just started back after a 5 month hiatus. Shoulder surgery followed by hernia repair. Im no where near 100% yet but i will give it as long as it takes. Like i said dont want to fuck something up and increase my off time or even hinder progress.

Going in for a follow up in a week or so. @ambulldog glad your back after your surgery. Did you do absolutely NOTHING at all for 5 months? I'm gonna grill my doc on a pt regiment I can start asap. Any advice for anything I can do while recovering from a spinal chord injury would be awesome guys.

I did legs and cardio following shoulder surgery. Once i had the hernia repair i stopped everything. So id say zero upper body for 5 months.

Now im limited upper body. That is based on my shoulder giving me feedback. I was cleared by dr a month ago for weights. But your body is the one that will tell you when its ready. If you dont listen, what happens is your own doing.

Try not to drive yourself crazy on the getting back. I know its nearly impossible. Concentrate on diet and proper recovery from the surgery. Pt helps of course but youll be ready when youre ready and theres no rushing or time table on that.

We all recover differently. I kniw guys that had my exact shoulder surgery and were back at 100% in 3-4 months. I was hopeful for that but im probably loooking closer to 6-7 judging how it feels at this point

@TorroXL you gotta tell me what the doc says too. Or, if my schedule is open that day I'll go with and see what he recommends. I'll grill him on the physiological aspect, so I can try and narrow down an effective routine for whatever limitations he sets. There are a couple pros that swear by machines, so I'm gonna look into what they say works.

Will do. I'm feeling absolutely horrible today. My body must be detoxing all the opiates. I seriously feel the worst I've felt in a long time. Then I sneezed and hurt my neck again and bit the hole in my tounge.. I'm hating life
