just curious if anyone knows if repatha or other pcsk9 inhibitors can be obtained anywhere for a non ridiculous price? my pmd will prescribe but insurance wont cover and retail price is $$$$

Impossible to source for anything less than the $600+ out of pocket US price.

Either appeal the insurance decision or start the step therapy (statins, Ezetimibe etc.) and either "fail'...and hope by then you have insurance that covers it or a doctor willing to fight with appeals to insurance.

I've only just started using AI to craft appeal letters for some meds. If nothing else, it is minimal effort me to screw around right back to insurance even if Im not gonna win.

Can you show that statins are a no go? If u can and ur doc can appeal it then usually the insurance (scammers) will “allow” u to seek this treatment…

Id go with the estim and bemp acid as described earlier

Theoretically, sure. You can get prescribed a statin and not take it. Then when LDL doesn't decline, you can discuss other options with your doctor. They can tell the insurance company statins failed.

Turkey and Euro sources in the UG forum can get them for you. Whether you find them expensive/within budget is another issue. You need to contact them directly.

Dunno why i didnt think of this. throw a shitload of cheeseburgers/bacon/cheesecake/halotestin in the mix to really make sure ;)

Good Day!
Vascepa not yet.
Repatha is available but price is high! Prohibitive I might say :)

This is the info for European Pharmaceuticals (apparently the oldest source thread on here)

It sounds like he can just about anything (aside from the obvious benzos, opioids etc.)

But doubt he can get them for a reasonable price.

Hopefully the parents expire in the next few years (I think 2-3 years for Repatha). Praluent is the other option that is a little bit cheaper than Repatha (but not cheap).

Of course, anti-sense oligonucleotides (ASOs) are really getting a lot of buzz as it seems they are able to potentially target LP(a) as well (previously nothing to be done). Wonder how many years we won't be able to afford those drugs...lol

Would love to hear more about ASO's, sounds really interesting!

Oral PSCK9s are already undergoing trials with promising results.
Praluent cheaper in US, yes, but I don't believe this to be the case in UK.

Pelecarsen is the name of one drug I have heard being tested...I think there are Phase 3 trials going on for this one (but if I'm recalling correctly - there are a bunch of potential ASOs; they are designed to block a cell's genome from producing expressing a particular gene).

I have no idea how confident they can be what the "whole body" implications are for messing with genes in that way but regardless, the "blocking" of these genes sounds temporary (I think injections would be needed monthly - but I'm really speaking off the cuff on this one and not sure).

I would guess we're still a decade out from any widespread use if approved...but I am not qualified to be a genie so who knows...lol

I did not know that about the oral PSCK9 inhibitors... pretty cool. (But gimme an injection..lol)

Yeah, Praluent being cheaper is a US thing (and I'm not really sure why, as I think Praluent came out AFTER Repatha but I could be mistaken...do not quote me on that info...lol).

I dont remember the specifics since its been awhile since I last read the trial findings.
But last I remember, Repatha has a better profile and it is also easier to get insurance coverage for, than Praluent.

I currently pay out of pocket for Praluent since its cheaper.
