For those who don't know me, I'm a nutritionist and coach for bodybuilding athletes. I also participate in other forums and recently decided to share here a story about the preparation of one of my professional athletes who is seeking his spot at Mr. Olympia. Last weekend, Ulisses competed in the IFBB Pro League FLORIDA PRO, in Sarasota - FL.

Almost three years have passed since the last championship, where Ulisses had placed in a highly debated TOP 4. The work has been hard in the meantime. As many know, Ulisses, unfortunately, does not have a sponsor, which ends up making it difficult for him to compete more frequently. Even so, he did his best during all this time.

It was about 16 weeks of cutting, considering that his body fat was already very well controlled at the end of his bulking phase. We reduced calories and increased cardio practically every two weeks. Since he was already quite lean, with just over a month to go until the championship, we still had time to increase his calories and reduce his cardio to get some extra breathing room and then get ready for the championship.

In the last championship, in 2021, Ulisses had received feedback from the judges that he was already very big and that he didn't need to worry too much about volume, but only about the aesthetics of his physique. With this in mind, we prioritized every finish in search of the maximum possible conditioning, holding his waist, trying to make his physique more aesthetic (it's not easy to make such a big guy aesthetic lol). Because of this, we ended up giving up some of his volume, but we managed to get a conditioning level that was even above what we expected.

Considering the very high level of the championship, I would say that the top 6 was not a bad placement at all. But, honestly, I'm honest in saying that, for me, Ulisses had the potential to be at least among the top 3. And why didn't that happen? In the other championship, Ulisses was by far the biggest on the stage. In this last one, the volume we gave up while focusing on a more conditioned and aesthetic physique may have been missed. Of course, it's not just volume and conditioning that make a champion, but this is something we can and will, without a doubt, adjust for the next championship. The goal, then, is to climb in the next championship, which will be in 10 weeks, bigger and more conditioned, with a preserved waist and an aesthetic physique.

The good thing about the forum is that, unlike Instagram, here we can talk more openly about what we'll be doing in preparation. However, I can't promise that I'll be as present here as possible to report to you how it's going to be, but I'll try to post as much as I have time, even if it's once a week or with each update of the planning.

In this last championship, we started cutting the week of May 19th, with around 3000kcal and 30min of cardio per day. As I mentioned above, every two weeks, on average, we increased our calorie deficit both by reducing our calorie intake and by increasing our aerobic activity. In the week of July 27th, Ulisses was already on a carb cycling plan (also with calorie cycling), with an average daily intake of 1950kcal (3 days a week consuming 2150kcal and 4 days with 1800kcal), while cardio was already at 90min/day. In the week of August 4th, we decided to increase his calories again to 2500 and reduce his cardio to 45min/day, considering that he was already getting close to a good condition to move up. In the week of 08/18, we went back to 2100kcal and 75min/day of cardio and in the week of 08/25 we did carb cycling again also with an average of 1950kcal/day and cardio at 90min/day. In the week of 09/01, which was the week of the championship, we did a depletion, maintaining only the low carb diet, with 1800kcal/day, which gave around 252g of protein, 33g of fat and 123g of carbohydrates approximately.

As for the thermogenics, we started on June 23rd with just caffeine and yohimbine, with Ulisses gradually increasing his dose every 5 days or so (starting with 5mg of yohimbine and 200mg of caffeine). Two weeks later, on the week of July 7th, we added clenbuterol (40mcg/day, increasing by 20mcg/day every 5 days) and on the week of July 21st we started with thyroids (still at a low dose, 100mcg of T4 and 25mcg of T3). We weaned off all of them (except for the thyroids, which were already at a low dose) during the period in which, as I mentioned above, we increased calories and reduced cardio. As soon as we started reducing calories and increasing cardio, we also started increasing all thermogenics again, increasing T4 and T3 to 200 and 50mcg/day respectively. The maximum dose that Ulisses reached was 600mg of caffeine, 20mg of yohimbine, 120mcg of clenbuterol, 200mcg of T4 and 50mcg of T3. All of them were reduced during the week of the competition.

As for AEs, we used enanthate, oxandrolone, trenbolone, masteron, oral stano and propionate (not at the same time lol). We started with enan, oxan and tren, then we included masteron and removed oxan and, closer to the championship, we started with oral stano and replaced enan with propionate. It will be a bit complicated to give more details, but I can say that we started the first week of the protocol with about 900mg/week of androgens and the last week before the championship (the week with the highest amount of AEs) contained about 1850mg/week of androgens.

As for the week of the championship, we basically did hyper-hydration with increased sodium intake, then we normalized the intake of both and reduced it until the day of the championship (we didn't get to zero at all). As for diuretics, Ulisses practically didn't use anything. He only used 100mg/day of aldactone during the week and consumed vodka and horsetail the day before the event. No hydrochlorothiazide, much less furosemide. The carb up was done on Thursday and Friday, with rice, raisins, tilapia, papaya and a little olive oil. We ate a little more on Thursday, since it was the first carb up, and a little less on Friday. There was no junk food the night before the championship. On the day of the competition, as expected, Ulisses only ate a packet of rice cake with jam in the morning and then just some snacks a few hours before going up. As we were evaluating his physique, we were drinking a little water to try to keep the pump going.

Well... honestly, I think I gave more details than I would have imagined, lol. Since I promised I would do this, I didn't want to miss out on this report. From now on, as I can, I will add updates here so that it will be easier for you to follow, if you are interested.

This week, Ulisses is only on enan 400mg/week, 3000kcal and 30min/day of cardio, while he weans himself off of thermogenics. His next check-in will be by the end of this week. There is a 99% chance that I will increase his caloric intake next week and that we will also start NPP. The idea is to do a kind of metabolic readaptation, which will also favor the hypertrophy process, for about 4 weeks and then we will reduce calories again, in addition to increasing cardio and also returning to more aesthetic AEs, just like we did before.

Well, I think that's it for now. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will answer as soon as I can.

Hugs to all.

Couldn't read that novella but pics of the dude in the end looks pretty good.

Nice work for whatever you had to do with that.

Nice from you to share all those details related to your client's prep. Keep updating the log.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to be active here due to the demands of my work and other projects I have, mate. But I hope you enjoy the following report. He will compete tomorrow and will certainly be physically bigger and just as ripped.

Good morning, everyone. I hope you are all well.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to be as active here as I would have liked due to the increased demand for my work at this time of year, both with athletes competing and also the increased demand for new clients, in addition to the side projects that I have been working on together. So forgive me for not being able to report as continuously as I would have liked. However, I still managed to come here the day before the championship to show you a little of what we have been doing in the meantime until today, the day before Ulisses goes up again.

Continuing from where I left off here, where we were in the week after the championship with 3000kcal, 30min/day of cardio and 400mg/week of enan, while he was weaning off the thermogenics, the following week we went up to 3600kcal, reduced the cardio to 15min/day, increased the enan to 600mg/week and started with NPP also 600mg/week (this while he continued to wean off the thermogenics) while we resumed with GH 6iu/day and kept T4 at 100mcg and T3 at 25mcg/day (it was not worth going any further in reducing the thyroid dose at that time). This entire protocol was done for two weeks (weeks of September 15th and 22nd).

The following week (week 09/29), we increased the diet to 4000kcal, maintaining 15min/day of cardio, also maintaining enan at 600mg/week and increasing only the NPP to 900mg/week, while the GH and thyroid remained the same. At this point, Ulisses, who had competed at around 220lbs, was already at 245lbs, looking quite full, less defined, of course, but still looking great for someone who had gained 25lbs. We then concluded this post-championship phase with a kind of mini bulk and then began the new cutting phase.

The cutting was resumed the week of October 13th, when we reduced the diet to 2500kcal, increased cardio to 45min/day, reintroduced caffeine and yohimbine, gradually increasing their doses, reduced enan to 400mg/week, removed NPP and included ace tren 300mg/week, masteron 450mg/week and stano 50mg/day, in addition to maintaining GH at 6iu/day and T4 at 100mcg and T3 at 25mcg. We did this for another two weeks and Ulisses only lost 2lbs, reaching 243lbs. At that moment we understood that the weight probably didn't go down anymore because the GH was holding water.

On the week of October 27th, we reduced calories to an average of 1950kcal/day, but doing a calorie and carb cycle (4 days eating 1800kcal and 3 days eating 2150kcal, proteins at 2.4 and 2g/kg respectively, with practically zero fat and the rest of the calories coming from carbs), in addition to increasing cardio to 75min/day. At this time, we replaced enan with prop 300mg/week, increased ace tren to 450mg/week, masteron to 600mg/week and stano to 75mg/day. As for thermogenics, while he continued to gradually increase the dose of yohimbine and caffeine, we reintroduced clen and increased T4 to 200mcg and T3 to 50mcg/day, still with 6iu/day of GH, but this was his last week with the peptide. By the end of the week, Ulisses had lost a little more than 2 pounds, reaching a little under 241 lbs.

Then, the following week (November 3rd), we decided to reduce his calories again, to a daily average of 1800 kcal (150 kcal less each day), with the same macro division, in addition to increasing his cardio to 90 minutes/day. We did not change anything else in the rest of the protocol. It is worth remembering that Ulisses continued to increase his caffeine, yohimbine and clenbuterol doses every 5 days, but we did not increase his thyroid anymore. With that, Ulisses reached 237 lbs on Wednesday, November 6th. This was because that was the day I asked Ulisses to do his check-in so we could organize all the preparations for the following days before the competition, since we were inclined to do one more day of carb up this time, totaling three days. I usually like to start the finishing strategy on the Friday of the week before the championship (considering a championship on Saturday), but with the possibility of doing 3 days of carb up, we should start on the Thursday of the previous week. And so we did.

From Thursday to Sunday (November 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th), we gradually increased our water and salt intake and started taking aldactone (remember that it has a long half-life and it doesn't make sense to use it on the day of the championship or the day before). We also started to gradually reduce our cardio.

On Monday, November 11th, we started to gradually reduce our water intake, which was quite high, at the same time we also reduced our salt intake a little (but it was still high) and Ulisses also gradually reduced his thermogenics, in addition to his cardio.

On Tuesday, November 12th, we would probably decide whether we would do 3 or 2 days of carb up. On that day, his water intake was a little lower, closer to what he normally drinks (about 5 liters a day) and we also normalized his sodium intake, as he usually does. With that, his weight was already at a little over 227 lbs. At the same time in the last championship, also on Tuesday, he was already weighing a little under 220 lbs. So, instead of doing three days of carb up, we went back to the idea of doing just two days, but eating a little more on each of those two days compared to the last championship, but I still wanted to see how he would wake up on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, November 13th, he woke up weighing 227 pounds, so we did another low-carb day to start the carb-up the next day, effectively ending up with only two days of carb-up.

On Thursday, November 14th, Ulisses woke up weighing 226 pounds. His physique was already retaining much less weight and holding volume, although Ulisses felt flat (he is big even when flat lol). We continued with the carb-up, eating only rice, tilapia, raisins, papaya and a little olive oil. Salt intake was reduced, but not zero. With each meal, his physique responded better and better, with an appearance of increasing density, each time more vascularized and with more toned muscles. Water intake was also lower that day and we expected his weight to drop by the next morning due to the diuretic stimulus caused by the maneuver with water intake, salt and the use of aldactone. After 5 meals, he was still holding about 230 lbs, which was a good weight for him to go to sleep and he still had a meal to eat.

Today, Friday, November 15th, he woke up weighing about 226 lbs. It was a good weight to have room to continue eating until weigh-in time. According to his height, his weight limit for the category is 234 lbs. With his water and salt intake reduced, but not zero, he continues to carb up, but we are keeping an eye on the scale so as not to exceed 231-232 lbs, considering the margin of error of his scale. In fact, at this exact moment that I am writing, at 1 pm here in Brazil, 11 am in Florida, he is at 229 lbs, which gives him room to continue with his carb up.

As for the photos, I will include the latest ones that I received just now, but I promise to put all the photos throughout the report above, organizing them according to each stage of the report. I need to upload everything slowly, but I have everything here and you will be able to better follow the evolution of his physique over the course of these weeks.

Well, I think that's it. As I have time and news, I will update here. The championship is tomorrow, Saturday, 11/16 and he should probably go up around 12pm (2pm in Brazil).

I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who followed and continues to support me on this journey towards a spot in the Mr. Olympia Professional in Las Vegas.
