Save the rich whites from themselves! SOW!

I literally quoted webster.

This original post was satire. A humorous look at elite first worlders who exhibit symptoms that are somewhat laughable to me. I lack empathy. Whatever.

People see the word white and get offended when they are white... it's actually pretty funny. Whites under attack. Lmfao. I have never met a more sensitive group than white Christian males. That literally and figuratively is a snowflake- somehow they got the phrase first. I think that is sad since it fits them so well.

Affirmative action is one of a few programs designed to right wrongs. Do you think slaves should have gotten the mule and land they were promised but never given? Instead they were imprisoned for petty offenses and forced to rebuild the south. They then were kept segregated and without basic rights. A civil rights movement later and their leaders were killed off and they were given the rights a white person has, and then the Nixon machine started the tagging as many african Americans as possible as felons- putting them back to pre civil rights and most important removing their ability to vote. Reagan started importing cocaine into the ghettos courtesy of Iran contra funding needs and decimated the communities already stricken with heroin imported courtesy of the nicky barnes era - all courtesy of the CIA and distribution channels allowed to operate with impunity courtesy of the FBI and co.

Clinton then dropped an atom bomb. Backing off welfare and bringing in three strikes you're out and minimum mandatory sentencing literally exploded the prison population from hundreds of thousands to millions. To say their is a racial disparity in sentencing, arrests, prison population would be the understatement of the year.

Affirmative action is because of all this resulting in the fact that people just don't hire negroes. Trust, personal taste- whatever.... white faces get hired quicker. Period.

How is it racist to say necessitating even hiring practices need to be enacted to avoid a century of racist hiring practices?

If someone gets raped and they hate rapists we wouldn't say they are racist against rapists. They are just a victim feeling emotions of being victimized.... which is why the reverse racism argument is bullshit. You oppress people long enough they will hate you- but that hate isnt racist. It's just how victimized people feel about people preying on them.

Actually yes, I do think they should have received the land and mules promised, and I don't disagree with you on 90% of what you are saying, just trying to understand the logic behind the thought.

Personally I think the "need" for affirmative action is what is so disheartening.

Again don't think you are wrong, just trying to engage in a healthy discussion without name calling and slandering each other.

2 issues I have with what you typed.
-I have never met a more sensitive group than white Christian males.
That is grouping by religion and ethnicity which would be racist and bigot
-If someone gets raped and they hate rapists we wouldn't say they are racist against rapists.
No we wouldn't, because committing a crime doesn't equate to race -- and you don't have to hire people with criminal records that isn't considered discrimination

The problem is the grouping in itself. Like I said, my family came here post WWII and the other half post Civil Rights movement. No oppression from me or my forefathers so to "hate" me based on oppression wouldn't make sense as all you could hate would be my pigmentation as it is similar to past oppressors.

And here is the kicker -- saved for last

Race isn't an actual thing -- it is a man-made concept with no scientific basis around it.

If you try to group a race by physical attributes, you actually get more variety within the race than comparing one to any other. The presence of melanin, one amino acid, is literally the basis of race differentiation. Quite absurd to base it solely on that.

Good read

I agree. It's a sad state we have been in and it has been an emboldened state of mind as of late. I was born real poor in a shithole city. I made those friends. Then my dad became successful and we moved on up. Made some friends there. Then I became addicted to drugs and went back to the city. Went through the system once or twice.

The differences in the experience of life based on class is astounding. What we are really engaged in is class war- but the tool used to keep people from aligning with each other is usually race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. So it's a bit of a hot button for me when I have seen so much disparate treatment firsthand.

I appreciate the back and forth more than you know... rational debate is the fine wine one rarely gets to sample but always hopes for online. It has really died off in the last two years now that everyone treats truths and politics like sports teams... blindly followed and cheered for with no reason beyond feelings and loyalty. Sickening.

I agree Brutus that much of the disparity in opportunity and outcome is the result of past malevolence of individuals and groups in power. This has been the case since the beginning of human societies. Also, those in power obviously, by intent and actions motivated consciously or subconsciously , act to preserve their place in the hierarchy. Who wouldn't? Are you personally willing to sacrifice your career (and thereby all your work and sacrifice and good happenstance) so that someone from a less fortunate group (and perhaps less skilled and has sacrificed less) can assist to shore up a more acceptable statistical and arbitrary outcome that indicates movement towards equity? This is the ultimate ask of socialism implemented. Now obviously, there are those that arise into positions of "success" (and tbh this boils down to economics how its been discussed here, which is spurious) by nepotism. These nepotistic beneficiaries tend to not be happy individuals leading a meaningful life. There will be nepotism in any society and any power structure.
Who gets to define what represents the realization of equity in a society? What power structures and controls would be necessary to implement this? Who gets to pick winners and losers? Because, guess what, hierarchy has existed en masse since the beginning of life, across species and certainly in humanity, despite the political, religious and economic system in place. Hierarchy will find a way. Bank on it. Now, I'm not suggesting that you Brutus condone revolutionary and radical measures (maybe you do?). Now, I'm also not suggesting either/or is realistic or necessary. I personally support proactive measures to create equality of opportunity. But consider that no matter who is in power, they are going to want to stay there and it will be abused. This power inertia isn't necessarily the result of a noble and compelling ideology, rather the result of those who take an ideology (be it religious, political, economic) and make it their god and weaponize it to support the new power structure.

I also appreciate that you are able to reflect and express gratitude for your progression in life and the space in life you currently occupy. There are undeniable advantages, statistically and generally speaking, to being a member of a certain group. But I think some of the growing backlash, objections and revolt against this paradigm, is that it is tends not to account for and appreciate the reality of individual differences, which are very real and varied within and across groups. And also, this paradigm, it fosters resentment. Resentment doesn't tend to play out well, especially when it gains gravity. That's not to say it doesn't tell us something important that we shouldn't pay attention to, but as a motivator of specific actions, its not good.
This postmodernist dogma is absolutely the rule of law in academic settings now. I have witnessed and experienced this first hand in that students and even professors/staff in academic settings are so fearful of violating this dogma, that genuine and honest conversation and debate is stifled. One might be labeled a ______phobe. I reject the idea that being a white male makes one guilty of original sin and that such a person should reflexively feel shame. I have multiple graduate degrees and come from educational systems and a field that are steeped in this ideology. There is blatant hostility that is palpable. And it is made explicit what are considered transgressions, sins and violations. And the penalties are public shaming and prescribed remediation indicating that you have converted to this ideology. And make no mistake, conversion is the expectation, either by evangelical means of repeatedly extolling the virtues of this lens and worldview thereby flooding/saturation, or more forceful measures if it is suspected that this conversion has not occurred. On multiple occasions in graduate studies, a class learning activity included something called the privilege walk. All of the class members start off on a certain line, and then questions that are designed to be evidence of privilege based on group status or "ism" or lack there of are asked. Steps are taken forward or backwards depending upon the status of one's privilege based upon that question. Of course, the white guy(s) end up at the front of the line. The first time I encountered this exercise, though a bit embarrassed, I found it helpful and enlightening. I found myself both feeling grateful for my lot in life and certain things I have taken for granted, and compelled to be more of an agent of change. However, the next time a little less so. It didn't sit with me so well and I had to engage in honest self exploration to understand why. Was it because it offended my ego? Probably a little. But more-so, it did nothing to account for individual differences beyond what classifies individual into certain groups. For example, I was abused and poverty stricken growing up. I was also struck with a chronic and incurable disease at a young age that nearly killed me several times. So there are omissions, and these are often intentional and deceitful. Because they threaten the tenets of the ideology. And then I also recognized the religious fervor of dogma. Because I had religion shoved down my throat as a child and later rejected it. This felt oddly the same, just different ideas. The devil got a new dress.

I had once adopted these "liberal" ideas, at least intellectually and even in practice to a degree. Because I was saturated with them and they were and remain the dominant narrative in academia, in which I spent a lot of time and energy. Plus they seemed noble. But I came to realize they are just another religious ideology in large part, and do not account for certain realities of history. Something so completely myopic, in love with itself, believes to have a monopoly on the truth, that is threatened to even account for the possibility of an alternative view to the point that freedom of speech is stifled or punished. This is not good. Not good at all. Plus, the implementation of the philosophies underpinning this ideology require excessive centralized power and reduction in individual liberty. That has not ever played out well in practice. And we are arrogant and foolish to believe that we can somehow get that right this next time.

Now this may all sound melodramatic, alarmist, etc. But I think it is of rather significance. To oversimplify, people both individually and as a group/society do not want to be told what to do, how to think and what to say. Comprehensive measures to enforce such things will lead to hell on earth, and hierarchy will still remain.

I believe this is to what you were referring to

Very well written.

I was arguing that affirmative action was not racist- not necessarily arguing that it was an answer to socioeconomic issues present since the beginning of time.

Honestly? I think the best thing to do is close tax loopholes. Real estate depreciation exemptions alone could provide quality curriculum and training in classrooms if removed. nepotism/inherited wealth is unavoidable, but the elimination of a central bank and making banking a government entity would also free up massive amounts of Capital- and remove the predatory angle of finance somewhat. The banks are our masters... while classical economics I have read were all about eliminating feudalism in favor of funding industry and infrastructure- which has all but disappeared now that our debt leveraged mess has so much interest being paid on so many levels that we cant ckmpare with anyone else- and the money being lent is hardly lent to improve quality of life or quality of economy. ... it's all predatory. Buying companies, mergers, property rights etc that you just have to keep raising prices to turn a profit.

I'm at work and my mind is all over the place. I guess my point is you don't have to give a black guy a job because he is black- but you need to fund schools, living conditions, job training, college- whatever are the things that white america takes for granted needs to be available in ghettos so that they can compete for that job fairly. Arresting them at staggering rates and labeling them felons doesn't help their prospects either.

And as far as your "individual circumstance" argument- pretty invalid. We are talking about the average experience. If a black guy had all the same sicknesses, family conditions, etc that you did his life would have been harder because he would have had to deal with being oppressed and targeted on top of it all. You seem intelligent- then you are well aware of what arrest rates, profiling that leads to those rates, instances of deadly encounters in those arrests even with unarmed suspects, conviction rates and amazing disparities of sentencing..... on and on- black problems. Like a video game of who isnt making it home tonight that whites dont deal with- and that's just one facet.

I feel a lot of what you said though. Overall a pleasant read.

The problem is then Gentrification.

I should clarify -- handouts based on race and not income is a problem. Yes, minorities disproportionately make up the lower class. But if you start improving the schools, the living conditions, roads, neighborhoods, etc. The property tax inevitably goes up. Then someone who has their house paid off that was worth 100k when they got it and they were paying 2k in taxes a year now has the same job and expenses and has to pay 5k a year.

Thus that ghetto moves away from urban towards a suburban area. Mom and pop businesses are replaced with chain businesses and salons and yoga places pop up.

The low income class no longer able to afford the area is forced to relocate to yet another area and start over.

You can't just address the tail end of all these set-backs with social programs like affirmative action, IMHO this program was designed to "give a little bit just to shut them up" under the guise of forwarding civil rights, awarded just enough to scrape by. An appeasement if you will. To be on truly equal footing, these type of programs can not exist.

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

EDIT: Yes capital gains are a huge issue.

Yours as well. You did a nice job of poking a hole in my "individual circumstance" argument. Agreed, that assuming all conditions are the same, that the average plays out a certain way. But my point is that too much focus on grouping and generalizing can lead to inaccurate assumptions about individuals who are part of a group, be it a traditionally more privileged group or not. Its more of that way of thinking, as a rule and presupposition, that is concerning to me. But the disparities among groups are real and egregious as you aptly point out. And we need not to fall into the trap of hopeless nihilism. Meaningful and evidenced-based measures are necessary to improve society. And it is a heavy lift in many ways.

I can see you are finding your way and I hope to never stop trying to find my own, because that means I have become lazy, complacent or have deceived myself into thinking I got shit figured out.

Man I hope you are active in getting out there to affect change in a way that leverages your strengths and gifts and aligns with your beliefs. I'm fortunate to be in a position to assist in these changes in meaningful ways at individual and larger scales. And I take that responsibility seriously. I respect the hell out of someone that has dug out of the hell of addiction by the way.

I am extremely active in the rooms. 12 step programs saved my life... I try to pull as many people out as I can. It's like running up a sand hill most times- talking to these kids is like talking to myself when I was a kid... like talking to an arrogant, sociopathic wall. Sometimes you get through. Makes it all worth it.

I have been reading a lot of random stuff this year and I am fresh off a neitschze run (little zarathustra and co) so maybe that's the nihilism you sense lol. Little marx, chomsky- malcolm x autobiography was impressive. The ability of that man to be so passionate about a belief but yet be willing to admit he was wrong so many times when confronted with new evidence- inspiring. Almost done with motorcycle maintenance and have the iceberg slim on deck... piles of books I still have to get through because I sidetracked myself rereading Vonnegut collection again. He makes me so happy. Hopefully if I keep reading both sides to every story and stay knee deep in here I came from I will make some kind of difference. Glad you do too.

Dude, no other civilization is more advanced,, more humane, longest average life span, greatest wealth, greatest standard of living....than what the white man built.

Go live in Egypt then or now or China anytime you ungrateful leach.

And it's whitey that abolished slavery and made international human rights a thing faggot.

Slaves never built the internet, sent men to the moon or made a single contribution to modern medicine.

Pointing out the fallacy in your point makes me a leach?

You are talking about ancient Rome if you are using "whites built civilization" argument -- no one told you to go live in Italy

As for longevity
1. Sardinia, Italy
2. Okinawa, Japan
3. Nicoya, Costa Rica

So you got Italian, Asian, Latino as the top 3.

As I can't time travel I am stuck living in the present, and quite frankly I love the USA glad my family migrated here. My appreciation for where I live isn't mutually exclusive with my above post.

And it's whitey that abolished slavery and made international human rights a thing faggot.

LOL!!! You should run for President !

Have you been to Sardinia, people oy go there to die on retirement after spending their life working in other countries to survive.

Costa Rica, Japan fuck up faggot have you left your Mum's house ever.

Japanese have all but lost their will to live as a culture.

And it's whitey that abolished slavery and made international human rights a thing faggot.

Slaves never built the internet, sent men to the moon or made a single contribution to modern medicine.

-- Yes, I've been there (In 2016 there were 50,346 foreign national residents, forming 3% of the total Sardinian population.)
-- Not sure what you were trying to say here
"Costa Rica, Japan fuck up faggot have you left your Mum's house ever."
Not a sentence but yes, I have a mortgage on my own house. It's called being an adult. Not sure what that has to do with your original sentence at all regarding,

"White man built civilization, end of discussion."

But keep on trying.
