I honestly don’t think they do very much for the effort put forth. I don’t have huge traps or anything but I do get compliments on them. Thing is I’ve never done a shrug in my life. All the people I see doing them at the gym have small shoulders and traps. I don’t get the hype?

Also hip thrusts are for dick riding faggots! ;) Says tren!

That's awesome that your genetics allow you to have big traps without working them.
It’s not genetics brother. Like @BigBaldBeardGuy said Dumbell and Barbell OHP definitely hit traps and shoulders more. I think push ups/pull ups even cable push and pull downs are better then shrugs. I think shrugs hit the rear delt more then traps. I am already hitting rear delts in other movements.

I agree that there are other ways to effectively hit traps.

Traps respond really well to direct trap work actually, it's a necessity for me for full trap development but I only implement them in training when dieting down, during a growth phase I just let them get indirect growth from other movements.

It's easy to go overboard though and the first symptom is usually a weird one: bicep tendinosis!
