If New York and New Jersey are so great why do we have so many of you coming to Florida , there's more NewYorkers down here than there are native Floridians crackers if you will like me. I'm just busting chops fellas so don't get all bent out of shape. I've never been to New York , upstate seems more my speed but I definitely got to see the city sometime.

There are a lot of young working age people too. We were just talking about it a the hotels I work at. I'm chief engineer at 2 hotels down here and I was in the office the other day and was talking with my co-managers and the sales department there was 8 of us and all of them were from New York the Gm is from long island and was talking about long island should have their own license plate , theyre all from the city except one guy the head of banquets is from upstate.

Because it's so damn cold up there. But you definitely have to check it out.

The east coast is an awesome experience but the west/south coast is better place to live in my opinion. I am biased because I prefer the warm weather but i also feel the cold wintery weather also kind of causes people to get more depressed and shittier attitudes during that time. I haven't been to Texas yet but plan to make it out there before my next Vegas donation.

This is true, i lived up there 35 years and im a fucking asshole...
And im not the only one here... ;)

Hmm, the cold weather and it's affect on your psyche is interesting. I think in a way it toughens you up and forces you to learn to fight through obstacles and learn how to refuse to let something in your way stop you (like the weather). Having been born and raised in Chicago, we had to learn to shake off the cold weather and 3 feet of snow, and not let it stop you. Anyone from the Midwest will tell you what happens when you try to call off from work due to the weather - your boss/manager comes back with something like "oh you can't get to work because of the snow? Well I have a stack of applications, and I'll GUARANTEE the people on those apps will make it in if I call and tell them your position just became available". Sounds crass and lacking in respect, but when you know your boss will not tolerate you letting the weather stop you from coming in, you just wake up everyday knowing you're going to work, regardless. And then you transfer that attitude/approach to other aspects of your life, like illness. You're not letting a headache stop you, if 3 feet of snow isn't stopping you. It becomes your mindset.

Now, move to the south, or west coast, and that approach is met with disdain and disbelief. I now live in the south, and love it, but I definitely had to adjust to the extreme differing attitudes regarding the above.

Every environment has its challenges. It can get pretty bad working in the heat /humidity here in the south. I built pools down here for years. Try being down in a 10' deep hole with concrete going off all around you giving off more heat and no breeze because your in a hole no shade and on a clear summer day we've had guys fall out. I've also done roofs down here ask Boston597 I think he mentioned about going from Boston to Louisiana and how much harder it is because of the heat/humidity. Not saying you Northern boys have it easy far from it I couldn't imagine living through one of those bad winters just saying it not all peaches and cream down here.

i have been to florida many times the weather is great but i feel like i am in a giant nursing home . i have never seen so many elderly people..
In the population centers no doubt , but there's plenty of Florida where it's not all retirees and Canadians. You got to get out in the country Northwest Florida or the Nature coast isn't as bad some places in the pan handle but where I grew up and currently reside because of work it's fucking deaths door elderly and Canadians everywhere! It sucks I hate it. And when I was a kid it wasn't so bad it has changed so much I don't even recognize it anymore.

I have family in Ithaca and a few smaller towns around finger lakes
It's a fun place, mixed with hippies, farmers, Agribiz's, CornHell Univesity and the those sweet lakes and Gorges.
I have many friends that live there.
